Sorry, CBM, I let this drift. Do you want to make a small post indicating your move? I'll fill you in with the necessary details once you've moved.

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
oh no, my fault, I should have also posted the narrative in the IC forum.
Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
I accidentally reset your intuitive tracker. The name is similar to my dark patron game and I selected the wrong one. I made an educated guess that you were not in structured time based on what I read in the IC. Sorry if you weren't and I screwed the order up.

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
Hey @swrider - not to worry! Thanks for the heads up. We weren't in structured time so it's all cushty.
@crazybirdman & @Azzranache, apologies, I will update IC today - I was unexpectedly away at the weekend and didn't realise I wouldn't have any signal or time.

am I close enough to use the sense power to get an idea of what he meant?

I could use influence to try and calm him down? Make it friendly perhaps?
Could be an aid to help us navigate the mines.
You could then use sense to see what he says/feels.

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
Both of these seem like perfectly reasonable suggestions, in either order. For mechanical purposes, you may both consider yourselves to be in engaged or short range as you see fit. Go ahead and roll your power uses.
@Azzranache, your roll should incorporate an Opposed (PP) Discipline Check.

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
@SanguineAngel I'll only look to use the base power which does not require a Discipline check (if I have read correctly). I don't think I want to use the 'Control' ability at this time as I have no ranks in 'Discipline' and my 'Willpower' is not that great.
As long as I roll a light pip, I should be able to inflict "peace, tranquillity or friendliness" to help our situation.
Please correct me if I've misunderstood

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
I think so I'm afraid, as I read it, the base ability allows you to stress out the target - which might still be narratively useful but in order to push a specific emotional state - that is where the Control upgrade comes into play.
However, I'd not worry too much about over extending. In these circumstances - there's no reason to believe the target would realise what you are trying to do even if you do fail to control, and you would still be able to apply the base power, provided you have at least 1 pip.

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
ok, I'm thinking I should try to communicate with him, but how, and what do I try to convey?
I'm thinking I'll turn off the saber, and maybe point in the direction we want to go?
A telepath would really come in handy here

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
haha yes, originally that had been my intention! But I am certain there is more than one way to talk to a cat... after all we've been communicating across language barries as long as humans have existed! I figured this would be an interesting problem to find a workable solution to

Wait, what? Cat? I thought it was rodent like?
Unless, that's a clue...
Are you saying we should offer it food or scratch it behind its ear?

haha no! It's just the saying - more than one way to skin a cat. Only in this instance CBM is attempting to communicate. Though either of thsoe things might work?

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
To play this out as our descent further into the dark side and slaughter these critters is tempting...
Unless we have any other ideas to pacify, these guys seem on the defensive. I wonder what they are protecting?
Is Merton still with us (in the background)? He has rations. Perhaps we could offer it some food?
If that fails then we go 'Anakin' on these 'younglings'!

I saw we try to convey which way we are going, and which way we want him to go (maybe with coercion?) then if it doesn't listen, go 'Anakin' on him.

capital! care to post to that effect? If you're not sure, remember there's a map of the rough layout on the previous page.

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
Well, I'm thinking we want to go to the warehouse, rest, then head up the mountain. So that's what direction I will hint at. I think coercion is our best bet (my charm is better, but this thing is already freaked out). What would the coercion check be to get this think to go away or not follow us? And can I get a boost die if I dramatically activate my saber to threaten him?

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
If you wish to coerce the creature, you may - given the language barrier, I think you would be reduced to very basic methods - tone of voice and physical contact probably. It'd therefore be an Average Coercion (PPss) Check with 2 Setback to represent the language barrier. You may also receive a boost, for the awe in which he holds you.
Should you wish to convey a simple idea (such as pointing in the direction you'd like to go) it would not require a check. Similar to any other form of conversation, you can freely ask a question without requiring a check. It'd only be in a situation where you need to overcome a challenge that a check is required. (Such as: refusal to answer a question. Attempting to detect a lie. etc.)

Can I assist @crazybirdman's check with my 'Influence' power, also igniting my saber, making gestures?

I'd give a boost if you can apply stress, but also a setback - as he knows you're doing it now. I would grant skilled or unskilled assistance as appropriate if you join in...

I'll just do the coercion check. I mean, I'll probably fail, but we need to get moving.

Re: OOC Session 01: One Last Lesson
@crazybirdman, do you wish to use that dark pip? Get some delicious conflict?
If you guys don't mind, it'd be easier for me if you put an [OOC ...] on posts when you're using Force Powers and there's any ambiguity, about whether you'll activate them or not and which power upgrades or base powers you'll be using, if there's more than one interpretation.
Thanks
