General Purpose Scanner, I think, suffices. (500cr, Enc 2, Rarity 3). I didn't see one on char sheets. Rarity adjustments cancel out, but will ad a setback for being in such a small community. (Flip LS DP suffices if the roll fails.) Negotiation: Difficulty: D+S + Boost for Heran's help. (And....500 credits).

Guys, I always like to err in moving forward with a little retcon rather than stagnate too much in PBP. The 'main' portion is dealing with the end-goal, so a little time here, a little time there. Work also freed up a bit yesterday and today, so I have more time to post. ;)

Yeah, sorry for overstepping! It might make sense for Thino to be our Underworld guy in the future. I didn't know he had any ranks or talents related to the skill so just used Vesper's Intellect.

We have enough in group loot to pay for it. Who's our resident Negotiator? Oona? I'm happy to have this roll be done OOC to move things along.

Looks like Oona and Thino are both YG on Negotiation, which would be needed to find the radiation scanner. @Boutrose Saba-Norr and @SanguineAngel -- one of you want to roll to find it? Looks like a roll of YGB+PS.

no problem bob, whatever gets the job done, I'll try and make that negotiation check now, that way if I don't succeed sanguine can use my advantages and try again.

RAW says the person (whomever it is) becomes a regular client or specialist vendor. However, as an alternative, I could also have the PC find something especially rare or helpful for about the same price. OR, upgrade the next check. A 2nd Neg check is okay, I suppose, since it is a scattered settlement, but I would add another Setback die on the 2nd check for being seen asking around annoyingly for something.

Ok and can I use the triumph for fuel for good cop and downgrade the check making it simple with two setbacks?

If not the permanent contact sounds good.

One other possibility: Maybe the Triumph ends up being information? Thino finds a merchant who used to sell radiation sensors, but he sold them all to someone, or they weren't selling so he stopped supplying them, or some such. We gain a bit of information about whether the radiation sensors are even necessary even though we still fail to find the radiation equipment we wanted.

@DeepSpacer The biological rose you posted is the universal picture for a biological hazard not a chemical one :P. I just had to point that out since I used to work in Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Operations for the US Army.

So not to bring to much real world physics into the game, but radiation is a major issue with space travel. For any spaceship to be successful it would have to include a radiation detector and radiation shielding. Would it be possible for Hell to make a piloting space check to know this and possibly Identify if the detector can be retrofitted onto one of the speeder bikes? This would likely take less time and raise less suspicion. Also, the basic tenets of radiation protection; Time, Distance, and shielding should be known to anyone working around radiation including a space pilot. Hell might know this and suggest that the team move quickly and possibly use some scrap to create a shield for themselves. A shield would only be effective if we know the location of the radioactive contamination, which would normally be the ground. Again sorry for bringing in real world physics to ask questions, but hey I work in radiation safety for a living ;)

do we have a mechanic, or perhaps the permanent contact we make with the triumph could do it for us?

I don't think we have a mechanic, but Vesper has 4 Intellect and could try unskilled. Another possibility would be to hire out some local mechanics to do it.

The radiation detector (scanner) won't be of use to the group if the scanner is on the ship. The ship cannot avoid detection if it advances towards the fuel depot. Thus, we advance on speeder bikes is the plan.

Permanent contact might be less attractive if it is a place we may not plan to return to. Or, the place won't be in the same location (we know of) if when we return to it. I was trying to give us a second option.

I believe the idea was to see if the ship's native detector could be retrofitted onto one of the bikes. Perhaps this could be the triumph? (That it is possible) Would still needs a mechanic or a mechanics check to accomplish?

I mean, I suspect that the radiation may be a hoax to keep the locals out but better safe than sorry!

Since this is a scoundrels port and all these people can be assumed to move around us having a permanent contact that is here now is not a bad choice because they can be anywhere.

That said if we def need the radiation device I say sanguin should use my triumph as fuel for good cop and make it a simple check with two setbacks.

Ah! It makes more sense now. I was reading it wrong. I think AVG + Setback (not made for the bike) Mechanics Check would be fine. It couldn't be terribly complicated. I would think there may be several radiation detectors on the ship at various places. Just need to make an adjustment or two.

Not a core skill. Vesper's 4 INT + 2 Boosts from assistance. Triumph can (perhaps) upgrade the check. If the Triumph is for a contact, I can work something up later that can be more interesting than npc #234.

Yes. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of it all. Not vital to mission success, but good for interesting roleplay. ;)
