Coercion, on a success, says you persuade/intimidate them to your side for a bit. However, it is a failed roll. The usage I have in mind is that they agree to let you in, but guarded as you "work". Or, the effort inflicts 3 strain to the officer. Or, upgrade the officer's next check (for whatever reason). Any ideas?

BTW, Threat adds to building resentment.

That is why I asked. If rather have the boats in the attack against the pilots. Taking two of those transports out knocks out half of the ties. If I can manage 3 it would be great!

If it is coercion I saw he didn't back down(failure) , but insisted on calling the tower to confirm (triumph). Since commas are jammed it allows for a second roll or a mild panic to form distracting the imperials. So a second check or a "surprise" attack while the imps are distracted. I. E. One action per pc none for npcs and immediate initiative. No maneuvers just an action each.

I think it could cause the Officer (only) to forego initiative for the first round because he is distracted by going on a irate tirade against Oona (i.e. failed check, Officer's reaction to that, giving us the advantage,....makes sense to me). The Stormtroopers (weapons on their belts) would still get to roll Initiative. Good enough?

The officer essentially losing a turn makes sense to me, assuming we want this to turn violent. The example from RAW says a Triumph can be used to "break the subject's will," but that's presumably on a success. Riffing off that, maybe we cause him to make a fear check. Just another idea.

I think I'd be happy for us to get the jump on them for our triumph. Seems film-appropriate. We try to bluff our way in and as it seems clear they're not buying it we quickly realise we're in trouble try to get the drop on them. The Greedo moment (the proper one)

Does anyone have any silent weapons? If this is going to be a sneak attack of sorts we might not want to cause blaster fire to alert people to our location.

Thino has the vamblade and I got this amazing thought of him being able to somehow get behind them by asking to look at somthing they have and then vamblade release to the back of the head lol.

I was thinking more like the Detention Center on the Death Star with Han Solo rather than the Greedo moment.

I may get time tonight to narrate a proper reaction of the officer.

Vesper has her backhand shock glove. Probably pretty quiet, or at least no noisier than the punch it delivers.

Incidentally, I'm traveling for the holidays tomorrow and still grading lots of tests. Forgive me if I'm a bit less active for the next few days! I should still be able to check in at least once a day, though.

Of the ones who could see or hear the gunfire, it'd be the other ones (if there are any) on the upper levels of the tower). The gun turrets are something other things/people are not crowded near. They are on the outer borders of the airfields.

@DeepSpacer Should I be rolling initiative for Hell as well at this point. You mentioned him sitting tight until the pirate fleet came within range. My assumption is no, but I didn't want to just ignore a call for initiative assuming it did not apply.

Not necessary, but now that you mention it... eventually you will do something and it will not be Vigilance given you are the one doing the surprising. You can roll Cool for initiative, too.

Plan of Events:
- take turret
- 1st Mass Combat check minus one turret (will not include TIE's on the ground)
- Imperials aware of the attack
- They scramble TIE Pilots

OOPS!!! I had forgotten for 2 days that Helios is separated and not in this initiative order! Sorry! :oops:

The NPC Rebel Soldiers don't have to go at their particular slot. The PC's can all go this round after I roll the Stormtroopers. We are ALL engaged range.

what is the difficulty to hit the commander with a melee attack?
do I get a bonus for using a hidden weapon and acting before him?

This Army officer does not get Adversary 1. He acted too slowly to get his initiative slot this turn, but he suffers no other ill effect from that.

flipping a dp to upgrade my check, using a melee attack with the vamblade to the officer. essentially thino is striking him with his open palm under the chin and then releasing the vamblade into his throat, or at least he is trying to. let's see what happens.

I'd like to use the advantage to say that the vamblade just didn't release at all and is still hidden and it just looks like thino was trying to disable the officer instead of straight up murdering them.
