Trandoshan #2

#76

Post by DeepSpacer » Wed Dec 20, 2017 3:43 am

The Trandoshan's snake-like eyes nearly bulge out of his skull as he lets out a horrible shriek. Writhing in pain on the ground and bleeding profusely, he realizes the end may be near. He drops the moderately damaged net launcher and manages to skin a vibroknife with his good hand. He strikes in vain at Lanna, but succeeds in giving the Wookiee slight pause at getting close to him. He may be gravely wounded, but he is fighting like a cornered animal!
Spoiler:

Trandoshan #1

Post by DeepSpacer » Wed Dec 20, 2017 4:10 am

The sound of his partner's cries and the sight of his partner's severed arm amuses the taller Trandoshan. The Hunt can be a treacherous place for the incompetent. He shouldn't have misfired his net launcher. Serves him right! ...thinks the veteran hunter.

Yet, there is this HUMAN female before me who dares to challenge me??? The taunts of her feeble arms amuse me!

Satisfied that his Weequay allies will keep the other do-gooders at-bay, the taller Trandoshan steps back and calmly takes aim at the female human attacking him. Once she is out of the way, the Wookiee is his!
Spoiler:
Maneuver: step back
Action: autofire on Vesper with a DP (stun setting)
NPC; UPRISING; Trandoshan #1 with Firelance w/DP:

9 - 4 Soak = 5 Stun
(2Adv = autofire)9 - 4 Soak = 5 Stun

Vesper takes 10 Stun, Total

1Adv = pass to Next (Weequay)
A flurry of blaster bolts erupts, striking Vesper several times. She nearly goes down! The bolts that do not hit shatter goods and products in the background, which does not escape the eyes of nearby merchants!

Spurred on at the ferocity of their leader, the two remaining Weequay will continue their assault. The human that just fired on them is the target. They make him pay for not heeding their warning to "scram". Their bloodlust gives further courage to their Trandoshan allies. Beaten and bruised, the human male carries on.

Blackness starts to encroach on Vesper's vision as the Trandoshan's stun blasts rip into her. I'm passing out, she thinks. But no; she can't leave her teammates to fight alone. She's taken down bigger targets in grav-ball anyway.

"Coward!" she taunts. "Attacking an unarmed foe with an automatic weapon!" Never mind that she has her stun gloves on...
Spoiler:
Spending a Destiny Point, 1 maneuver to engage, then attack:

Vesper Reshari; Uprising; Brawl:
3 Successes, 0 Advantage

That's 6 stun damage before Soak. Been nice knowing y'all.

The Trandoshan opponent swats away your attempts to brawl as if he was swatting at a fly. Vesper's blows are mostly absorbed by his heavy clothing, but perhaps left a small bruise on his chin. Secretly, he admires your fighting spirit, but would never openly show it.

Kzar backs up firing his guns rapidly into the crowd of Weequay, he had to keep trying to kill these things. His salvo should drop at least one if not two of his remaining foes. It seemed his group wold be hard pressed to win this battle, at least at the moment.

R3 Cpt. Kettel

Post by DeepSpacer » Sun Dec 24, 2017 7:31 am

Captain Kettel sees his allies (Vesper and Lanna) fighting with the lead Trandoshan, but thinks a shot in their direction might be too risky. Close to that grouping he sees a bloody, one-armed Trandoshan trying to gain his footing from being prone, knife in-hand, with his eyes on Lanna. He takes careful aim and the shot hits home!!! It leaves the Trandoshan motionless on the ground in a pool of blood next to his severed arm.

Lanna's brutal strike leaves the Trandoshan reeling. The evil grin on his face turns to a look of extreme worry and concern. The sinister glint in his eye disappears and, instead, his eyes seemingly bugle from their sockets from the intense pain. There is a bloody gash in the Trandoshan's torsal from one should to the opposing hip bone. You are unsure if the Trandoshan is about to fall over dead or whether there is one, final, last act of desperation left in his body.

Nearby, bystanders have ducked into alleys and some merchants have retreated into their stores or booths. In the chaos, errant shots from the Trandoshan have damaged some merchandise and the retreating crowd has knocked over several things in the street.

Post by DeepSpacer » Wed Dec 27, 2017 3:47 am

With one, last, final "Hssssshhhkkk!!" of a gasp, the tall Trandoshan topples to the ground with a "THUD". He lies there motionless.

Standing among the carnage is one, last Weequay assailant. He sees his fallen comrades and decides to flee. He heads down a market avenue, trying to distance himself from the victors. The avenue has people in it, some coming out to see what the commotion is about and some who were standing at a distance to avoid getting involved.
Spoiler:
Maneuver (x2): flee to medium range.
>Structured time MAY continue depending on actions of the PC's.
>Difficulty to shot him is 2 Red: Medium Range upgraded once for bystanders and once for a Destiny Point.
>Seeking to initiate a chase is a declaration of doing so and making a Simple Athletics check. Or, I suppose, one could burn two strain to move to medium range with him.
>Coerce him to stop in his tracks and surrender. Avg. (2 Diff) + 3 Boost dice + 2 Setback dice.

Aid?

Post by DeepSpacer » Wed Dec 27, 2017 3:56 am

A short, stocky, female creature is "croaking" loudly and with great hysterics. She is standing in front of a small storefront of a business waving her short arms frantically. She is difficult to understand. You're fairly certain she is angry at what has transpired.
FR II.JPG
FR II.JPG (35.58 KiB) Viewed 4292 times

Also in that same storefront area is another creature of the same species (male) who has been knocked to the ground. You did not see what happened. Cpt. Kettel begins to attempt to communicate with her to calm her down, but with little success. She is extremely emotional at the moment. Upon closer inspection, the male creature on the ground is groaning in pain. He is covered by debris, including some heavy shelving that is pinning him to the ground.
Spoiler:
The creature on the ground has suffered a critical injury from falling debris. A large section of shelving with merchandise has fallen on him.

SOME OPTIONS & DIFFICULTIES.....Feel free to come up with alternative options or simply ignore or flee or loot or Etc.... I offer difficulties proactively to avoid wasting posts being asked for such things. If you come up with another action, I will be more than happy to provide difficulties for such actions.

An Average (2 Diff) Athletics Check can be made to lift the shelving off of the creature. One Boost Die for anyone who helps.

Leadership Check to calm the crowd or get help from them. (RP + 1SB)

Vesper may perform an Avg+SB Xenology check to gain some insight to the creature’s anatomy. Success means you receive a Boost to the Medicine check to heal the critical injury, failure means a Setback. Critical Rating is Avg (2 Diff) before use of personal equipment.

A human male by the name of Ronin Wayne is walking through the markets with a dignified noble of Mexeluine. They are finishing up their conversation just before being interrupted.

“As I have told you Mr. Wayne, the Empire is the Core’s problem, as is the Rebellion. In the Anoat Sector, the Empire has a scant presence. They have a small administrative interest on Gerrenthum and they purchase some Tibanna gas and crystals from merchants in the Anoat Sector. They are paying customers. Doing something to disrupt business is a quick way to make enemies here."
Spoiler:
Ronin may make his argument to counter this to Mr. Vandemere, a gold-skinned Nothoiin merchant. Post your argument in the IC.
> Knowledge: Outer Rim check Avg (2 Diff) + 2 Boost dice. If you succeed, gain a Boost die to your Charm check to influence him.
Spoiler:
If you succeed, you recall that the Empire gassed to former Anoat Capital of the planet Anoat. "There were dissidents on Anoat. No one could find it. So they gassed the planet." This happened several years ago. If you fail, then you cannot use that knowledge for an advantage.
>The Charm check is RPP. Coercion would be RP + Setback Die (Your Talent removes it.), however using Coercion can have worse consequences. If you succeed, then he will likely give you aid.
>There are 5 LS DP's left. I will reroll them soon, so might as well use them.

Vesper considers running after the lone Weequay assailant, but then she sees the merchant pinned under shelving. She rushes over to help, kneels down, and lifts the shelf.
As she pushes the shelf off the alien, she hears the man heave a sigh of relief. The timbre of his voice reminds her of something she learned in xenobiology class...
Spoiler:

Ronin had seen many things with the rebellion, including merchants such as this one. Mexuline Mr. Vandemere there is one one thing you fail to consider, many things actually. The first being that while the empire may be in the core now, soon the rebellion will not be there. And the core will be fully empire. Then they will come for the rim. Then, as you lay on the battlefield dying, you will look back and wish you had not helped. But, if you do help, you will see the core coming loose at the seams. And soon after, the galaxy will celebrate the defeat of the empire. And you will look back, and find that everyone that supported us, is as much a hero as us."

An interruption....

#91

Post by DeepSpacer » Thu Dec 28, 2017 3:52 am

Mr. Vandemere (Marax Vandemere IV) smiles and is about to respond to you plea when the sound of blaster fire erupts in the distance ahead of you. Citizens begin to scatter, some running in your direction. It is midday and the market is packed with people. Vandemere, his small contingent of servants & advisors, and his contingent of well-armed bodyguards all move in that direction. It takes several rounds to traverse the distance and navigate through the fleeing citizens.

Upon arriving you see the bodies of two Trandoshans on the ground in pools of blood. One with a severed arm and a hole in his chest and a second with a gigantic gash down the front of his body. Not far from them are three Weequays laying on the ground, motionless, with blaster holes in them. Several stun batons lay beside them. To the side are several beings (human female, a Wookiee, and two human males) helping lift debris off of a fallen reptile-like citizen. A female, motherly, reptilian-like citizen is standing watching them. They are the only beings in the immediate vicinity.

Vandemere looks infuriated, yet concerned. He addresses the people before him."What is the meaning of this? What is going on here??!?!?!?!" His contingent of 8 well-armed bodyguards fan out and bear their weapons, ready for any trouble that may come.

Ronin had other plans than calm have you bloody lost your mind. Do you want to bring the empire here. You have gone insane. Have you seen firsthand what the empire does to regular people. Be careful, for bloody hell. Unless you want to be dead

Lord Marax

#94

Post by DeepSpacer » Fri Dec 29, 2017 12:44 am

Marax raises an eyebrow at the tone of Ronin's voice. "I do not want the Empire here any more than you do, young man. You make a persuasive argument! Indeed, like a ravenous beast, once the Empire has feasted on the Core Worlds, it will next pursue other conquests." Marax says firmly.

One of his advisors leans in to speak to Marax. He's an older gentleman in dark clothing, thick eyebrows, gray hair with a weathered, sourpuss of a face.

Lord Marax & Us

#95

Post by DeepSpacer » Fri Dec 29, 2017 12:52 am

"Just a microsecond BOTH OF YOU!" Lifting his arms out to each side, he raises his palms toward Ezry and Ronin. Someone has spilt blood in MY marketplace!!! Our discussion on the threat of the encroaching Empire can wait!"

Any further attempts to speak to Marax by Ronin are completely ignored as he is showing concern for the present circumstance and advances to question the people there. A nearby bodyguard has taken notice of the conversation and stepped in a bit closer between Ronin and Lord Marax. The one called Ezry shoots Ronin an accusatory glance and scowls. The guard does not seem to block your access to HIM.

Given that the Wookiee is holding a bloody axe, and the nature of the wounds the lizards received, the answer to the second question should be obvious. The stuffed shirt must be an idiot, as well as being a pompous blowhard.

Vesper turns her attention to the squawking human. "Oh, are you in charge here? I'd like to register an official complaint about the lack of security here. These Trandoshans assaulted my Wookiee companion here, and we had no choice but to defend ourselves. It's a small miracle these outlaws didn't cause any more damage to innocent bystanders than a broken bone and a couple of smashed stalls."

"In charge? I am Lord Marax, a merchant-lord under the prestigious Andromeda Figg herself!!! How is it that...."

Marax is then interrupted by the squat female frog-like creature, who steps forward quickly and becomes highly animated once again, eyes bulging and communicating loudly....

"Croooooak!!! Ribbit-ribbit-ribbit… CRROOOOOAAK!!! Rib-rib-rib.....ribBIT-ribBIT!!!! RIBBIT-RIBBIT!!!!! Rib-Rib-Rib.....Rib......Rib-Rib.....RRRRRRibbit...RRRRRibbit..."

The creature's stubby little arms begin flailing in all directions as she communicates, Lord Marax nodding in understanding as she goes. "I see, I see..." She gestures towards the Trandoshans, then to Lanna, to Kzar, to Kettel, then to her store/booth, then to Vesper and also the her injured male companion as she appears to be telling a story.

With a gesture, one of Marax's other aides steps forward and hands the creature a small bag of credits."My apologies..." he says to the creature, giving a slight bow to her.

"My apologies to you all as well. As a merchant-lord of this city, I would hope that our security would be more vigilant, but some seedier types do slip though."

"Bounty hunters, no doubt! We don't need their SCUM here!" as he looks upon the corpses with disdain. He nods to another aide, who then steps away and begins to communicate on a comlink. He then gestures to the mess and gives direction to his men, "Collect what you can and track down how they arrived here. Confiscate what you can and use it as compensation for the damage done. Business must go on."

"Do you (the group) require "compensation"? Are you citizens or visitors here?"
