Your comment causes the human guards in the room to give pause and stare momentarily.
"We have no such "Rebels" here on Mexeluine that I am aware of, so you'll have nowhere to avoid." says Unit 921 in a rather chipper voice.

"The Galactic Empire exerts little direct control over the Outer Rim territories, but it has significantly reduced piracy and rebellious activity across the galaxy since the fall of the Republic." says the droid, hoping to say something pleasing to Kzar's ears given his concern for his own safety. Unit 921 looks around to the faces of its new visitors trying to ascertain if he has made a statement pleasing to them.

"Enjoy your stay on Mexeluine!" replies 921. A security pass is given to Kettel for access to the hangar and the group makes its way through the hangar door. The door is locked securely behind them.

Outside of the hangar, the hallway is bustling with activity. Across the way is a youthful besalisk juggling round objects with his four arms, an open bowl at his feet for passerbys to deposit a spare credit or two. A faint hint of cantina music emanates from long distance….”dah-dah-dah…..dah-dah-dah….dah dah dah dah dah-dah….” Beings of various sizes and species move up and down the halls. Vendors, boutiques, and service providers line the halls and the interior.

Outside of the spaceport facility under the open sky, the scene turns more urban. The scene becomes more complicated with multi-level buildings, crosswalks, intersections and side-streets. Past a few streets of food and product vendors, you can see a more industrial layer of businesses and storefronts.

Skill Checks

Lanna, make one Perception check for noticing something in the crowd at a distance. Something that would likely draw the attention of a Wookiee. Difficulty = 2Diff + 1 Boost + 3 Setback dice.

Everyone (including Lanna) make the following check as the behavior of the crowd becomes suspicious to some:

As we begin to search out a potential business to barter with, Lanna and Vesper notice that the crowds ahead begin to thin out and a few people begin to hurriedly rush down side streets as if getting out of the way or something......or someone. Kzar and Cpt Kettel were unaware of the subtle crowd movements until it is nearly too late. Kettel was double-checking his datapad and Kzar was admiring his pistols at that particular time. Lanna and Vesper sense something suspicious just before the following occurs….

A large, tall Trandoshan emerges from the crowd in front of you begins to hiss loudly right after the crowd parts…..
“HRRISSSK……KRRR……SHUH….ISSSK….R’KUR….ZUH-AK!!!”
Translation: "I CLAIM THE BOUNTY ON THIS CREATURE!!!"

The Trandoshan stops a short distance away and brandishing a Firelance Rifle.
He directly addresses the group….
“Yroosh….shoh…kisssk…bnntee!”
Translation: "Step away from my bounty!"

From behind the first Trandoshan steps a second one, shorter and stouter than the first. He is brandishing a cumbersome weapon with a short, wide barrel (an electronet launcher). Vesper and Lanna also notice several (4) Weequay to the left who are going against the grain of the crowd’s movement in our direction. They are each brandishing some sort of club.

Lanna and Vesper roll COOL for initiative.

Kzar, who failed his perception roll, but rolled a Triumph, can roll VIGILANCE for initiative with ONE PURPLE DIE and a free UPGRADE on the check from the Triumph. While distracted, he happened to be admiring his cool, new security blaster while this was going on. If you would like to use the Triumph to notice something useful nearby at a vendor's stand (a barrel, a container of oil, etc...) that you can use, then you may do so instead of the Upgrade.

Cpt Kettel was also unaware, and will roll Vigilance with a Purple Die.


Distance to each set of targets is short range, though Weequay still have citizens around them.

Kzar reacts just a second too late, he had been admiring his new Security S5 blaster pistol and hadn't noticed the Trandoshans approaching, but he whips out his other blaster in mere moments and looks around, noticing a large barrel filled with small, hard, candies near the feet of the trandoshans and aims his grappling hook at it.

"What the???" exclaims Captain Kettel. Yet, he reacts quickly to the threat as a wiley combat veteran should. He draws his weapon and points out the enemies coming from the side and front. He glances at Lanna, the target of the Trandoshan's taunt, to make sure that she acts swiftly.

(While the Adv's on a IIR check are for additional strain, I am going to use them for a Boost in this situation since no one has Strain to heal.)

Lanna steps forward past the puny, stupid, arrogant lizard leader to get in the face of the lizard with the net launcher. She swings her axe, but astonishingly her aim is off and the weapon passes harmlessly over the short creature's head. Still, it's enough to put some pause in their eagerness to fight someone capable of fighting back.

Stunned by the Wookiee's sudden advancement, the shorter (and less intelligent) Trandoshan becomes nervous, slings his weapon into firing position, and fires his electronet at engaged range. While they have may lack in intelligence, their equipment is of significantly above-average quality. The results of his quick-triggered action has both triumphant and dire consequences!!!

Complicated!!! I love it when things get messy!
Saved by a Despair! The taller Trandoshan is hit instead! I honestly would have preferred that Lanna & Trandoshan are netted TOGETHER, but a Despair says the engaged opponent is hit instead of the target.
DESPAIR: hit Trandoshan instead of Lanna, causes 8 Stun (damage) to him B4 soak
TRIUMPH: upgrade Tran#1's next attack
4 THREATS: (2) Boost die to Lanna's next check, (2) SB die to Tran #1's next check
1 threat: NPC loses prior maneuver (aim), so he gets 1 more threat
3 threats: NPC falls prone (due to entanglement in his own net)
1 threat: NPC takes 1 strain
In his rush to (opportunistically) net his prey, the shorter trandoshan fires his net launcher quickly at Lanna but inadvertently hits his nearby partner instead!!! Lanna finds herself in an opportunistic situation (for the moment) as the Trandoshan falls prone from firing such an unbalanced, cumbersome weapon (encum 6).

The taller trandoshan is INFURIATED by his partner's incompetent aim!!! Shoot 'zem! Shoot 'zem BOTH!! ...he thinks to himself as he steps back, recklessly sets the weapon to autofire, and lets loose a torrent of blaster bolts at Lanna from his quick-triggered, heavily-personalized Firelance. He slows Lanna down a bit, but not enough to stop her.

A group of Weequay (4) are obviously working in tandem with the Trandoshans. They advance through the remaining pedestrians to assault the Wookiee's allies. "MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!!!
SCRAM!!!!!"
...they shout as they step forward wielding stun batons. They run through the group, assaulting Kzar as they go. Running too quickly, then end up passing the group, standing between Lanna/Tran 1&2 and the group.(1 threat: lose benefit of prior maneuver). Kzar gets the worst of it.

It all happens so fast, but once Vesper sees the Trandoshans and Weequay attack, she activates her shock gloves and lunches at the Trandoshan with the firelance.

Kzar twirls away from the Weequay as one of their batons clips his shoulder, he grunts with the slight pain but is nontheless ready to blast the Weequay into little wrinkly bits. His compatriots seemed to be taking care of the Trandoshan so it was time to take out his backup, Kzar fired both blasters landing several shots on teh Weequay as tehy desprately tried to dodge, but at such close range they could not manage it.

What Kzar once heard about Weequay rings true, they are tough opponents. One of his blasts hits one in the chest and causes one Weequay to reel back, nearly toppling him. The Captain fires his trusty blaster and also hits home several times, dropping two Weequay where they stand.

Lanna roars and on her backswing completely severs the arm the lizard was using to fire his weapon. The stroke continues on into the weapon itself, heavily damaging it.
