From the Case Files of the Alpha Squad

Day 1: Coruscant

A female Nikto named Cha who runs a Hutt-owned bar asks us to step in to help Nikto refugees on Lannik who are being harassed by a Republic garrison. They can repay us in valuable crops (rare herbs and medicinal fungi) as a thank you if we help them. She tells us to meet her brother at the main spaceport on Lannik.

We rescue a Sluissi from some gangsters, and he agrees to give us a lift to Lannik on his modified AA5 speeder truck. We nickname him "Custom."

Day 2: Lannik

Custom gives us some gear as we arrive at Lannik. He tells us he'll be around for a day at least if we need another lift.

We meet Cha's brother, Nicky, running his concession stand at the spaceport. We give him Cha's secret code message, and he arranges a meeting at sunset. The city seems to have an oppressive Republic presence.

We meet him that evening. He tells us the city is full of "lackeys and informants for the local Republic police chief" (Monticor Greckel) and offers us a ride on his speeder truck. We are ambushed by Republic police. The man tells us they are corrupt and have been persecuting the Nikto minority. Their leader is corrupt.

We defeat the police with stun weapons and steal their uniforms, as well as their vehicle. We find a map in their speeder; it shows the large city nearby and a red circle around an area of wilderness outside the city where the Nikto have a hidden camp—obviously now exposed.

We head to the camp and arrive to discover that another Nikto, Antazi, has armed the camp in Nicky's absence and is training the Nikto to fight. This is controversial in the community.

Nicky says that there's a corrupt colonel in charge of the sector who keeps placing corrupt captains in place to extort the locals. If the Nikto don't give up their crops and produce, the Republic jackboots will tell the Hutts where they're hiding. It's harvest time now, so a shakedown is imminent.

Nicky suggests the only way to stop the cycle of abuse is to get rid of Greckel somehow, but he implies we'll need to get the colonel, as well, since he can just assign a new corrupt captain in the first one's place.

A female Nikto named La-lana says she knows a frequent haunt of the captain in town, where he hangs out with the wife of a "high-level official." He goes there since it's a scummy place that the Republic ignores, and they won't be recognized there.

That evening, she escorts us to the cantina. We spot a human heading into the holographic wall to private rooms. We con our way into our own private room. Computer records indicate that Greckel uses a code name to make reservations, and that he has a large reservation for a few days in the future. We're discovered and have to talk our way out of being bounced from the cantina.

Day 3: Lannik [I'm guessing -- seems like we were in the cantina all night]

We spot two human men and one woman exiting the private area. The bartender won't tell us who they are and seems afraid of them. We follow them toward the city market and eventually the spaceport. The woman mentions that her husband will be coming with a shipment sometime in the future. The woman has an elegant, luxury ship with Republic markings. The ship is heavily armed. She boards it. The other male boards along with her, but the captain of the police stays behind.

A spaceport official named Luke tells us that our mark is the captain of the local Republic guard. They're corrupt and little more than a gang, keeping the populace cowed with violence and threats. He's worse to the Nikto. The other two are Core Worlders, the woman married to a "big shot general." Probably someone corrupt. He identifies her as being married to a General ???, who may indeed be the guy who set us up to go to prison, as they share the same surname.

Spaceport records indicate that very few ships are scheduled to arrive after about a week. The woman and man were on a ship called the Peacock that comes roughly weekly, only carrying passengers. It's declared point of origin is Coruscant. It seems to have diplomatic immunity, leaving it free of security screening.

The group does light reconnaissance, finding the captain's home, office, and other key locations. Later that evening, they get Luke to agree to keep an eye out for suspicious activity at the spaceport. Luke reveals that the captain's secretary, Abagail, is a former classmate and that she might agree to help the team.

That evening, the group stakes out the captain's residence for a possible break-in.

Day 6: Lannik

The group stakes out Greckel's home for two days. The captain is not home often, essentially just sleeping there after work and whatever he gets up to in the evenings. Greckel himself seems to have a routine of going to his office, then to a major bank, and finally to a luxury-building still under construction at the edge of town. The building's shell seems mostly complete, but the interior is still a work in progress, as is the landscaping, security wall, and security system.

The Alpha Squad waits until the night of Greckel's cantina party and breaks in. The place is sparsely decorated and furnished, but still impressive. The team finds standard household items, along with personal and business items. Possibly significant items include old admittance passes to an Grav-Ball game on Coruscant, a mini datapad with several (4) comlink frequencies, a very old bottle of liquor, a set of unopened wine glasses, a Sabacc deck, and several death sticks. The team copies the datapad; the data suggests that Greckel will pick up something at the spaceport and then make a drop at the IBOL in two days' time. When confronted by the captain's personal droid, the team overpowers the automaton and reprograms it to spy on the captain for them. Finally, the group finds a Bith safe hidden in a wall and manages to open it. Inside are an ornate and expensive necklace (likely the work of a specific dealer on Coruscant) and two credentials (one for the First Bank of Coruscant, and one for Greckel's office on Lannik). They clone the credentials and get a holo-photo of the necklace.

The group escapes with ease from the Captain's residence and returns to their (rented apartment(s)?). Talk continues as to how Abigail (the secretary) can be helpful to us, as she is a friend of Luke. There is also the matter of the Nikto community, which has to pay tribute sometime soon.
