With help from the others and a successful Computers roll (1 succ, 3 advs), Angali was able to gain access to the computer system on this Sith shuttle. In addition, the shuttle receives Sith Holonet transmissions while it is within a Sith dominion.

On the ship's computers, the group sees a somewhat recent series of flight patterns between Coruscant, Dxun, and Kintan. The patterns fall under a call name of "Operation Spearhead". From what can be gathered, it is an endeavor to create an army of "super warriors" to lead an attack on the Republic. (Mind you that, so far, both sides have kept the peace agreed to under the Treaty of Coruscant.)

From the Sith Holonet, one can see communications and broadcasts about prospective future Sith Empire conquests and a strong desire, by some, to re-engage the Republic immediately. It was (however) a direct order by the Sith Emperor himself that brought about the Treaty of Coruscant and halted The Great War. Many were not happy with that decision as the Sith Empire clearly had the upper hand in the war.

After a layover on Coruscant, the trip to Kintan takes six more days of hyperspace travel. Angali works on her meditations and lightsaber construction. BA practices his arts while Monty contemplates a battleplan.

As the shuttles gets further into the Outer Rim and closer to the Kintan System, Sith comms and ship activity becomes less and less. Thus far, all the shuttle's pass codes and transponder signature have enabled safe passage through the Sith Domain. This shuttle is not reported stolen. It has simply left Dxun along with the others. Approaching Kintan, there is one Sith battlecruiser in orbit.

At one time, the Sith Empire and the Mandalorians were working together to subjugate the Nitko. However, the Nikto were unwilling to serve the Sith Empire, remaining loyal to the Treaty of Vontor. The resistance was brutal. Then, after the Mandalorians severed their alliance with the Sith, the interest in Kintan wavered. However, there remains a remnant, a remnant with a particular interest in the Nikto species.

During the long flight through hyperspace, Anjali meditates on the crystal she found...that found her...on Dxun. The pressure of its presence in the Force creates an all too familiar itch, and before she knows, she's bustling about her small workspace in the corner of the ship, laying out the parts and components she'd collected.

Cloistered in her space, her eyes close and she can visualize all of the pieces in front of her, the beautiful crystal hovering close by, its emanations whispering to her, guiding her thoughts and movements. It's as if she is one with every mechanical gadget and gizmo around her, through the hull of the ship's floor and its pulsating hyperspace core.

The Force seems to create a bubble around her, and she snatches glimpses of herself -- (in the future? what may or may not be?) -- gliding silently through the shadows of corridors, easing through crawlspaces....

The individual pieces slowly float together, smoothly seating themselves together, and with a final click, the crystal locks itself into place. Anjali slowly opens her eyes to see the gorgeous creation in front of her. A weapon, yes, but work of art - the work of an artisan. Thumbing the activator switch, the blade springs to life with a soft hum, the gentle pale blue light illuminating her face. With a few careful swings, she tests the heft and balance. This sleek tool will serve her well, she is certain.

Hmm, I seem ta recall that I know of some old hermits out in the desert, if we're looking ta make contact." BA says. "It's been years though, so can't say for sure."

BA nods in agreement. "Let's put down somewhere out of the way, but close enough we can head inta a city ta rent some transportation that'll be a little more anonymous."

"Well, beyond the Fire Desert of Kinklath, we MAY be able to find both!! My people, the Red Nikto, dwell in that region. The Valley of Temples is an abandoned area not too far away. Probably wouldn't even need a transport. We COULD find assistance with by brethren, or not! I have to warn you, they dislike outsides, Republic and Sith, alike!"

"Should be a good place to hide the shuttle, as well."
contributes BA.

The rest of us are aware of the ungodly temperatures there.

Scanners indicate no movement around the valley of temples (1 succ). The scanners DO indicate some stationary, non-humanoid lifeforms amongst the ruins, half-dozen to a dozen (2 Advs). With the high temperatures of the day, it is normal for beings to remain still to avoid exhaustion.

The Valley of Temples is a cluster of rock formations into which religious temples were carved out many millennia ago. A suitable cavern is found. One that opens into a large area in which scarcely little can be made of the carvings an architecture since it has been relatively exposed for such a long time.

The path to find a Kajain'sa Nikto tribe seems pretty clear, at first glance. Should've been, "Just over this way!" Which it is..... but some creatures beneath the sands have decided to intercede!!! (Failure & Despair on Survival Check)
BA; Alpha Squad; Suvival:
1 Failure, 0 Advantage, 1 Despair,
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

The creatures are nearly man-sized. Like most creatures on Kintan, they are a dangerous foe!! They STRIKE from a position of surprise!!! (Despair)

The sand worms are one of the many mutated creatures that have evolved on Kintan. Most surface creatures have been hunted to extinction, but these have managed to survive beneath the sand. A single one has been known to wrestle a grown Nikto to the ground. They are exceptionally vigilant, sensing footsteps through the sands.

The creatures strikes out at Anjali, penetrating her armor with their piercing tusks and inflict 6 damage (before soak).

The worms turn their attention to the large (tasty) Red Nikto! (Random rolls both came up BA). They swarm and lunge at him, but only a single worm penetrates his defenses (7 Damage b4 soak). BA beats some of them off with his fists and boots (Threats going to WT damage to them).

Anjali's lightsaber snaps to her hand and quickly flares to life. She swings at the worm attacking her, but only glances off its thick hide. She calls out warnings to the others as she prepares for the worms next thrust, ready to parry it.

"BA, Monty, look out! They have nasty teeth!"

Monty heeds Anjali's warning and draws a Blaster Pistol to reduce the difficulty of engaged range. He shoots all around, hitting several of the snake-like creatures. All that combat experience has paid off!!! Several (3) fall limply to the sand.

BA grunts in pain. He hates these worms, always had since he was a kid. Luckily he was tough enough and had enough armor to ignore the worst of their bite.

Heaving up his axe, he swings it down on the worm next to him, straining as he does to make sure the hit is a solid one.
Spoiler:
BA; Alpha Squad; Attack with an axe:
4 Successes, 2 Advantages

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

4 base damage + 3 from vibroaxe + 4 successes for a total of 11; the weapon has Pierce 2. spending 2 advantages to crit

BA; Alpha Squad; critical damage:
Numeric Roll: 1D100+60=135

If it's not dead it now has bleeding out, losing 1 wound a round. if i was over his threshold by 5 or more, I get to roll again.

2 strain to upgrade twice with frenzied attack
1 wound after soak 6 from the previous hit

Several of the large worms fall to the ground, some cut in half, some strewn into ribbons.

But being the non-intelligent animals they are, they persist.
