Anjali perks up at the mention of a control panel. **"Now that's something I can work with! Let's see what we've got here."** Anjali moves to inspect it closer. Maybe she can decode or slice it....

Anjali pulls her computer skills to work using some tools and tricks of the trade. The door slides open (3 succ) revealing a narrow, dark passage. With some luck, Anjali bypasses some wires on a closed-circuit system and is able to leave the circuit unbroken as the door is opened (2 Advs). There should not be any indicator that the door was opened.

A rush of cool air exits the open doorway. The air is cooled from underground, yet somewhat refined and purified by machine. It is brisk and makes the hairs of the skin stand on-end.

The ceiling raises up at a 60-degree incline beyond the door to about 20m and the floor raises up only slightly, leading deep into the mountain. The passages are cut stone by living beings. There are faint red beacons, in pairs on the tall ceiling, barely illuminating the passage. The passage is difficult to see in, but there is an end to this hall about 40m ahead. It appears to lead to a "T" at the end.

((Anything anyone wants to do? This is a bit of a dungeon crawl, at this point.))

((I'll assume standard dungeon-crawl preparations and try not to get us hung up on "right or left" quandaries. ;) ))

All is quiet as BA, Monty, and Anjali enter the underground complex. Looks like the motion sensor just inside the door is deactivated (for now) thanks to the 2 Advantages rolled by Anjali on the door entry.

At the end of this hall is a giant natural rock formation of gray stone. It appears the builders of this base preferred to cut around it rather than through it (hence, the "T" formation of the hallway). Either right or left both rise slightly into an open hallway, much larger than the one you were traveling. The floors are VERY clean. The atmosphere is dark and silent, dimly lit by blue lights and three white lights at the ceiling in both directions. The hallway is left-to-right, symmetrical at both ends. While not obviously visible, you assume there to be side passages near both ends of the passage. Your steps DO make some sound on the hardened floors when you move.

'SSHHhhhhh......' hushes Commander Monty to the others. He acutely observes that incautious footsteps create a sound that echoes down the halls. But, when treading carefully, one can minimize/negate that effect with some effort (5 Successes). One can also navigate the shadows here to one's advantage with an equal amount of effort.

Anjali nods silently following in Monty's footsteps and his tread, but a couple paces behind to maintain space. She let's BA take the rear.

You hadn't noticed before, but there is a black panel on the wall that does not look like the other metal panels composing the wall. In fact, this is a touchscreen computer console. As you all walk by, Monty passes close enough to it to cause it to activate (Triumph on Stealth Check). The appearance of white light from the screen helps illuminate this otherwise dark hallway.

"Whoa!! What have we here? Might be our lucky day!"

With very little effort at all, the screen details most areas of the base in the form of a map. Apparently, it is a 'help' screen map for inhabitants.

There are three underground levels detailed here. The turbolifts ascend to all three levels and the surface. On the level the A-Squad is on (level 3), it details a hallway turning North on each end of this corridor. (Direction-wise, we'll say we entered from the 'South' and these two hallways turn North.

Midway up each corridor is a turbolift. On the north side of this level, it is a training area with a freight turbolift on the center of that northern wall. Built into the center block of this area are three large niches built into the center mass of the base. Each niche listed as a training area. To the NW corner, there is a cave-like corridor leading to the outside.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Level 2 is listed as "Restricted". No details are given, and no further information is accessible from this console. The lifts DO show that they access that level, though.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Level 1 is a hexagonal command center and barracks area. Above that is the surface. Details of that surface area are not given.

Yeah, I like the freight elevator after checking the floor.
We'll go with that. The recent Stealth check will still apply.

Round one side of the hallway you go, towards the north wall with the freight elevator. You pass the lift on your left and proceed north towards that northern wall.

PING!!!

[Flipping a Darkside DP!!] Now at 3 LS / 2 DS

Several meters past the lift, halfway to the north wall, the elevator 'pings' behind you and the door is about to open.

ROLL INITIATIVE!!! Vigilance, please, in the OOC.

Four Sith Warriors step out of the elevator. Their faces are indistinguishable behind that mask and the armor is in pristine shape, shine and all. Their footsteps are heard as they step into the hallway unaware of our presence....at first.

The squad (4) of warriors and the A-Squad react to each other's presence at about the same time, but one of us is faster! The Sith Warriors begin to pull their carbine blasters from their side. They are also equipped with vibroknives and some type of grenades. (Distance is short. Image for ranged)

'Well, probably wasn't going to get too far before it came to this, anyways,' Monty thinks to himself. He raises his rifle to get in a first shot.

"Sith soldiers!!! Look out!!!"

Not being the murderous type, he flicks the rifle to stun. The rifle emits several bursts of blue light at those who just exited the elevator. Blue rings of energy impact two soldiers in the chest, dropping them to the ground.

Maneuver: True Aim (+1 Strain for upgraded attack)

"What the???!!!" a trooper exclaims!!

The two troopers fire back with blue rings of stun fire, missing all group members. The blue energy dissipates on the walls to the side of us (1 Failure). The two of them squat down, taking a knee, to make themselves smaller targets (3 Adv = +1 Ranged Defense).

The vibro-ax slices through the two Sith soldiers, its blade easily slicing apart the shiny, smooth armor. Those two will certainly not be getting up from those blows.

A stun blast here, a stun blast there, and some grunting sounds signal the end of this brief encounter.

Did anyone hear the commotion? Is there anyone around the corner???!!!

No alarms go off, for the moment (if there are alarms).

There are two unarmed human males in dressed down (non-armored), casual outfits who come to peak around the corner at the far end of the hall. They appear to be in typical under-clothing, clothing that a recruit or soldier would have after removing their armor (3 Succ). You hear the soft pattering of feet as they turn and run back down the north hallway.

A chase, should you initiate it, would be an Athletics roll by each character. Bring a competitive roll, it is simple (no) difficulty. Number of Succ, Advs, & Triumph(s) vs theirs will determine if they are caught.

BA (cinematically) knocks the two guard out. The area back here is a training area: hand-to-hand, melee, marksmanship, etc... It is in the 'basement' of the complex where the sound is somewhat dampened. The freight elevator is on the back wall.

(You had previously gotten a layout of the base. Level 2 was an "unauthorized" area. You suspected that AAA is being held there. Shall we proceed?)

Anjali keeps her blaster at the ready. She crouches next to the downed troopers and checks them for anything that might help. "Nice move, BA. Let's check floor 2, but maybe these guys are carrying something useful.

The troopers carry next to nothing. They are stripped down for training and have light clothing to wear under their armor. You DO find bindings nearby with which to tie them up quietly.

Weapon attachments? There are MANY nearby. This is where they train and test weaponry. Take your pick (and add to your char sheets for later).

The (restricted) area on the 2nd floor looks as follows (pic). Much like the lower floors, there is a tall ceiling but instead of all black, the walls are a dark, ominous red. It is a secured portal, to be sure. It looks like two layers of digital screening (each blue box on the right side) and then a solid, mechanical door. The digital barriers have some kind of recognition device to bypass them (a handprint, a visual scan, something else?).

"Let me take a closer look at this. I bet I can...wait a minute..." Anjali notices the faint outline of a compartment right below the mechanism. With a push it flips open to reveal a breath mask. "Well, son of a Bantha. Some Sith mechanic out there probably didn't trust having to do maintenance on this thing, whatever it is." She fits the mask on. Now, to have a look at this portal.
