BA plods ahead, undeterred by the thick undergrowth. The vibro-ax makes quick work of that!

There, under some dark growth, beneath the floor covering is a familiar, oval insectoid. Several of them, in fact. Oval, yellow, brown, orange.... about 2-3 inches long. A dozen or so of them. 'How did THOSE get HERE?' he thinks. He had seen these on Kintan before. Not a significant detail to mention to the others. They're only dangerous if you let them latch onto you.

The navigation through jungle terrain goes on for approximately 30 minutes. Every now and then, when the scenery changes noticeably, Anjali pauses to sense for nearby lifeforms.

At times, it is ....limited (1 LS, 1 DS pip). She feels a PULL!!! There is something MORE out there. The jungle WANTS to tell her something!!! If only she would reach DEEPER!! If only she would accept what Dxun is offering! The ground itself, it seems, has life to it. It would be "easy". Just.....connect.....

This is a temptation Anjali has not felt before. Sure, she may have learned from her mentor Rahdika that hastiness, anger, and impatience are quick, but unstable, ways to manifest her powers. But THIS is something different. It is like "a calling."

"Introspection, meditation, and guidance," Rahdika said, are the ways of The Force. It is 'The Way'. It is a 'gift'. A talent to be harnessed. Yet, this 'planet' is tempting her with the unknown. Just a little 'hastiness' and she can know more secrets!! Can she afford to miss out? Must she find out?
Spoiler:
Sense gets short range with 1 pip, medium range with 2 pips used. Takes a spending of the Darkside pip to know more.
Anjali can feel it calling to her. This seems...important, perhaps even urgent! What if something harms Monty or BA and she could have prevented it? Anjali decides to open herself more fully to the Force swirling around her to make sense of it.

"Guys, hang on a minute. Something's off.... She closes her eyes and puts her hand on her forehead, and concentrates....
Spoiler:
That was a nicely done temptation! She'll bite. I already spent the LS destiny point. Taking 1 strain and 1 conflict.

Over the horizon, approximately 50m away, is a small herd of quadrupeds. Animals of some sort. Man-sized. Eight of them. They pass through Anjali's sensory range (medium) for a few seconds. They continue in a (basically) straight line until they pass out of range again. Much like a straight line would slice off part of a circle.

That felt GOOD!! It was easy! So easy to open up to the Force. This moon (or this place on the moon)..... it empowers.... strengthens.....

But it teases you. If only you had more power. If only you were more dedicated. Then, you could sense their MINDS (with 3 pips and that control power).

BA and Monty also feel something is "off". This place is 'different'. Not an average jungle.

Spoiler:
Of course, we could pursue. Up to you all.

BA & Monty have a small force sensitivity. Original GM Trip insisted everyone have FS. I agreed to have it, but chose no powers.

Misplaced my FaD book. I'll go with the details provided here. 'Sense all living things' is broad. Type? Distance? Size? I guess so.

BA glances around.

"Definitely something with the Force going on here, not a fan of it," he grumbles. "This feels like the Sith, like the bastard that shelled my world."

He tightens his grip on his axe, and whacks at one of the orbalisks.
Give me about 5 minutes after a post, I'll probably edit it a bit before it is finalized.

"Let's keep an eye out for more animals like those. They could prove to be dangerous...or a thing that is hunting them," Anjali cautions.

'CHINK!!!'

The impact of the vibro-ax glances off of the hard shell of these 2"-3" sized insects!!

A little half-swing of the vibro-ax should split the common insect in half, no doubt. Ah....but there is something unique about these critters. (A second swing with a little 'OOmpfff!' behind it will split one in half.)

BA knows that orbalisks, like most things on Kintan, are vicious and potentially deadly critters. Fall into a nest of tham and you are done!

Orbalisks are like little rocks with razor-like mouths on the underside. Their shells are resistant to energy weapons (having the cortosis property).
(1Succ)

These creatures are also parasitic in nature (1 Adv). Once attached, they are very difficult to remove. Sometimes removal results in the death of the host.

Perhaps BA has a story from Kintan concerning one of these?

Monty comments,"I wonder how they got here?"

"It's a LONG way from Kintan."

"UGLY little buggers!!"
he replies as one of them gets flipped over. They move slowly as they crawl over each other.

A little later.....

The insects were a troubling sight, but easy enough to avoid. There are other things moving in the wild. Bigger, more dangerous things.

After some more travel through the jungles a Dxun, Anjali pauses once again to survey the scene and sense her surroundings. (2 LS / 2 DS Pips) There is life all around her. She senses it. It is intertwined. Similar, yet different. Swirling together. (Like the 'ying and yang')

One of those forces lingers close to the ground. Anjali feels a sensation to tap into that force. It is of death and decay. Change. Life to death. Finality. She can feel it in the insects under the foliage and dirt. She can also feel it in the four quadrupeds approaching from the 'West'. It feels like hunger. Aggression. Without mercy. They feel in-tune with the planet.

The other force lives in the same environment. It is also changing as it flows. Life. Metamorphosis. Rebirth. Death begets life. A new cycle of creation. It struggles to weave in and out of the living plants and creatures. It also senses these four creatures. Part of nature, but dark souls. Animalistic. Moving quickly.

The four creatures are beyond the ridge, coming in our direction. Gaining speed. Moving with great cunning.
Spoiler:
Anjali already mentioned choosing the light side options for her sensing. Feel free to describe her experience and alert the others. 2 Pips are enough for her force powers to work at maximum proficiency.

The creatures weave in and out of foliage, spreading out, achieving optimal approach angles. True hunters of the jungle. While Anjali is able to point out from where they are coming, it is still a very difficult task to pinpoint their quick, darting movements. Their positions change so quickly!!!

Monty will pull out his heavy blaster pistol to go with his blaster rifle. The pistol is better at close quarters fighting. He'll also take some cover with his back to a tree trunk.

'WHERE, WHERE???!!'

He frantically looks all around seeing no sign of the advancing enemy.

There are four distinct creatures moving about the jungle surrounding us. Their skill at being stealthy is somewhat supernatural. They blend into the surroundings. The darkness clings to their bodies as the earth and the plants (seemingly) become one with them.

"THERE!!!"

"....and THERE!!!"
screams Anjali as she dutifully detects and points to two separate directions. Visually, they are not seen by BA and Monty until the last second. And even then, it just seems like the jungle is coming alive (A Predator reference there!). Two very lean, man-sized, quadruped predators emerge from two different directions (4 total) and pounce!!

Anjali, it is, for the first attack.
The first one darts through the underbrush and leaps at Anjali....

It accelerates past her, swiping at her torso as it goes. The vicious claw (several inches long) leaves a gash across her Smuggler's Trenchcoat. It almost snags her on the curved claw, but it hits one of the armor plates instead. (creature now in engaged range with her) It DOES, however, spin her off-balance slightly (2 Advs: +1 Setback).

The Setback Die was the difference! Thank you armor!!

The fusion cutter cuts deeply into the side of the Maalraas. The beast lets out a guttural scream and tries to run off into the jungle. It collapses by the beginning of its next turn as the burn kicks in, leaving it a pile of sizzling, dark flesh.
