Act 1 Never Tell Me the Odds

(Monty) "An informant told me where he hangs out at. We'll get there first thing tomorrow."

Anjali looks over at Triple-A: So, now that we have some peace and quiet, let's take a look at that recording. I'll see what I can do with it.

[SavageBob]

"Sure thing. I'll try to help, but like I said, I don't remember much from Forensic Acoustics or whatever the class was called. We just need to jack my recorder into some kind of computer set up."

They analyze the recording for several minutes. Based on the ambient background noise, the computer spits out several possible locations. Evidently the loud machine noise in the background were determined to be Binary load lifters. AAA looks at a map to see that there is a warehouse near where Sixxkiller tried to kill them. They must have lost him so fast because he parked in the warehouse.

To be sure, they cross referenced that warehouse to equipment purchased. Sure enough, the warehouse management company purchase 5 Binary Load lifters last year.

Anjali calls over to Monty and The Boss. "Hey boys, we might have a lead for you here." Anjali shows the datapad with the location of the warehouse and explains their findings.

"What sector is that in? 439? 943? asks Monty.

"Regardless, it's this warehouse on the map. Anjali's analysis confirms that's where Sixxkiller was when he made the call. Head there now? Or do you folks still want to wait till morning?"

" I caught a quick nape while you all were decided what we were gonna do. I'm off the clock and look for a good time. A large warehouse with some binary load lifters sounds like a real hoot!" hell says with such enthusiasm you almost believe he actually think that sounds like a good time.

"Awww.....I was looking forward to some sleep! I hate covering ground a second time.
We were JUST in that area! Next time, let's make a THOROUGH search of the area, okay?

I figure we can use advantages to reduce the next fatigue (resilience) check. Maybe, SIMPLE instead of EASY around 4am? Or, if the Resilience check advances to 2 Diff, then it is only 1 Diff for those with Advantages to spend. Those who don't get the Advantages to use? Well, they just aren't java drinkers.....or, it's not enough java for them to ward off weariness as easily.

Anjali packs her backpack and slings it over he shoulder. "Ready when you are, sleepyheads", she says to the men, with a smirk.

The team heads to the warehouse. When they arrive, they find the place is all dark. The see a garage door on one side of the building. There is a entry door next to the garage door. It looks locked with an electronic lock.

Alamy walks up to the side door and stares at it. She lets her eyes focus, like the nuns taught her back on Devaron, trying to see through the metal to what lies beyond.

What she finds is anger, anger at this Sixkiller, anger at this conspiracy, anger at the whole situation. She remembers the words of the nuns: Such anger can be used, but be careful, lest it consume you. She buries the feelings and forces herself to take some deep breaths to calm back down.

AAA turns to the others. "We knocking or breaking in?"

"Any of you good at cracking electronic locks?"

The team heads to the warehouse. When they arrive, they find the place is all dark. The see a garage door on one side of the building. There is a entry door next to the garage door. It looks locked with an electronic lock.

Anjali looks over at Monty, and the gives a meaningful look at the lock. "You want to knock, or shall I let us in quietly?"

Hell strides forward nonchalantly. " I got this he whispers before keeling down by the lock and beginning to work on it. nearly five minutes pass before he stands up and looks at monty. "There is no way to open that lock im sorry. Why do we need to unlock it though when it isn't connected to the door? I can buy you a different one for your collection latter."

AAA draws a small holdout blaster from a concealed holster. "Can't be too safe. Now should we open it all stealthy-like?"

AAA opens the door as quietly as she can…

…heaving a silent sigh of relief when it opens soundlessly. She carefully steps into the room beyond and makes way for the others to follow.

As she enters the dark garage area, she can tell there is no one in the vicinity so she motions the others to come in. Once they are inside, their eyes adjust to the low lighting conditions enough to barely make out what is in the room. About 20 meters from where they stand, they can see a speeder. AAA recognizes that is the one that SIxkiller was driving.

The darkness is unnerving. Alamy focuses on the power the nuns taught her and tries to push away the darkness, focusing on the smallest bits of light and magnifying them in her mind.

Better to be aware of what's going on than to be ambushed. Alamy uses the fear to open her eyes and see.

Anjali watches Alamy with some trepidation as she opens the door. She's a bold one. Let's see if she survives this, she thinks.

Anjali walks in with the rest of the group, uneasy with the feeling the setup. She tries to keep to shadows as much as possible, and keeping as much cover as possible.

Helios not at all unnerved by the darkness sees a shinny new, to him at least, speeder and starts salivating. He resists the desire to rush over and take it for a joy ride.

The team approaches the speeder. Monty and the boss suddenly realize that something isn't right.
