Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
So, rolled Observation to get a general idea of the surroundings. Are there hills? Cottages? Farmland? Pasture? I'm curious where Blaise might go if things hit the fan.
Got another 1 on the roll. If I understand correctly, that sometimes means something bad happens, OR it means that I subtract 5 from the skill increase roll. How is that determined?

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
if you roll a 0 you can take a +5 on your skill increase roll. Spending net 1s is up to the GM.
In this case you simply miss see something. Say for example you miss identify the soldiers ot their vehicles, you miss count the soldiers, or you simply don't notice a pair of soldiers on a perimeter patrol. Something like that. With there being only a single 1 rolled the effect should be relatively minor. Multiple 0 or 1s increase the magnitude of the effect. 3 1s for example and you may have mistaken a camouflaged vehicle as a hill and tried to climb it.

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Take your time. I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.
Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Congrats on the new job one again.

Congrats on the new job, Shado!
Rider, was Concealment the right skill to roll for Blaise to hide? If so, I got a 0 (something good happens) and +2 to skill.

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
That is correct. I had him find an area with natural camoflauge and negated an opposed observation check as a result. I am not sure they could have beat his concealment roll anyways, but that is what happened. Also the spot he found will be good for concealment well past the 20 minute mark provided by shadows if you wanted to wait longer than that.
Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Cool, close call. How do I determine which track heads to Paris?

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Let's just say they are labeled at a junction box. I don't want to complicate it.

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Lucky the GM is being nice. IRL tracks are not labeled, unlike roads. The map for a track network is in the control room that monitors a region's track system. Each switch relays back to that control center what its status is, and is displayed on a control board there.
Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Well, in this case it looks like Paris vs. outskirts of Paris, so it wouldn't be the end of the road (metaphorically speaking) if Blaise were to guess incorrectly. You're right, though: Rider could have asked me to guess, or had me ask someone, or maybe asked for some sort of orienteering roll.

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Another friggin' 1!
And is 51 the max a skill bonus can be? Seems there's no chance to raise above 51 using the roll and divide the skill level into that number rule.

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Any roll higher than your bonus adds +1. Max skill bonus is 100, because even at 99 if you roll 100 you will get +1. Another way to look at it is you round fractions UP, not down.
Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
What shado said. Any time to higher than your bonus your skill increases by at least 1. 100 is the max.
Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Ah, OK. For some reason, the division part throws me. I'm not a fan of math.

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Which track had the explosion? Paris-centre or Paris-outskirts? And which track did the German army folks take?

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Sorry I should have specified. The paris-centre track had the explosion and that is the same track that the train took.
Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
OK, well there goes my whole plan! Does Blaise know how much farther it is to Paris? How can he determine where a road would be that could get him into town?

Great questions. Lets do an orienteering check.

I'm chuckling out of character. That's what Blaise gets for not trying to investigate the gunfire he heard. He could be in Paris now with Gavin.
Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Lol. He is in the outskirts of Paris. Besides he is going to be great at athletics.

Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
Do you have any idea how far a walk it is from where he's at to Notre Dame? Hint: it's at least a full day's journey, possibly a day and a half. And that doesn't count stops by Germans or having to detour. Paris, even in the 40s, is not a small city.
Re: Operation Medusa Discussion.
I know! Gunfire... explosions... He's like, NOPE. Going the other way...ShadoWarrior wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 8:39 pmI'm chuckling out of character. That's what Blaise gets for not trying to investigate the gunfire he heard. He could be in Paris now with Gavin.
