Probably before, since the town was miles away. But if it's a freight train (and not a commuter train), it likely won't stop very often -- just at rail yards for freight loading and unloading.

Out of curiosity, is there a random encounter table you're using? Or is it more a function of low rolls mean nothing happens, high rolls mean something does?

Also, what's the equivalent to Resilience in FFG? I figure Blaise might need to roll to stay awake or to represent fighting lack of sleep.

Great questions.
At this point it is a function of low rolls mean nothing high rolls mean something happens. I do plan on making a random encounter table, but it would be generic.

Also a great question, there is no direct mechanism for this. At least not yet. Outside of an initial first aid check, healing only really occurs through rest. Failing to rest can prevent a character from healing their wounds. In the military we routinely went without much sleep for over a day. I do not see any ill effects from this. However, going multiple days would mostly likely result in an increase to all skill check difficulties. With the penalty getting larger the longer you go without rest. Something like 0- 48 hours no penalty. 48-72 +10 difficulty. 72-84 +20 difficulty. 84-90 +30 difficulty. 90-93 +40 difficulty, 93-95 +50 difficulty, Each hour after 95 adds another +10 difficulty.

The above has been added to the game rules. Subject to change as are all the rules of the game, if they don't work well.

Does Gavin have some sort of Resistance rendezvous point in Paris he's supposed to go to, or is he supposed to go directly to the church I put in my legend?

I didn't specify as I wasn't sure how quickly everyone introduction was going to go. You have a contact name, description, code phrase, and location. That can be outside the church if you like or within the church itself. A priest going into a church would not look suspicious so whatever you feel is appropriate.

Well, it very much depends on whether anyone at that church, such as the priest in charge of it (or his boss, the diocese's bishop, or the next level beyond that, archbishop residing in Paris), is aware of Gavin's mission. As a player I have no idea who my contact is. You as the GM get to decide who's involved in anti-Nazi activities and who isn't.

I'm thinking that he'll towards the nearest town and either try to catch a ride as a tourist/student or hotwire a vehicle (between his lockpicking and explosives knowledge he should be able to figure it out).

Rider, by Paris bypass route, do you mean the train will be going around Paris rather than through it? If so, Blaise will get off and wait for another train heading into the city.

Yup that is exactly what I mean. You will need to roll athletics if you are jumping from the train, and then athletics again to get back on. May be a few other things you want to do as well, but I wont dictate. Such as observation checks to find better point to jump to/from. Use your imagination and feel free to make a roll if you feel it is appropriate.

Which track are the military vehicles parked next to? The one Blaise is on (toward the outskirts of Paris), or the track that heads into the city proper? I'm trying to decide if he's better off continuing on his current path (and having to find a way from outskirts to city center), or switching and just trying not to be noticed switching.

You are unable to tell. You saw a sign for the split, but can not yet see the junction point. It is difficult because the split is directly in front of the train and the other tracks split gradually.

OK, next question: Is the boxcar Blaise is in empty? Or is there cargo of some kind in it? I need to know 1) whether if I stay on the train, the boxcar I'm in is a good place for some soldiers to load up some cargo, and 2) if there's somewhere to hide in the car.

I had inviting it empty, but let's have the dice decide roll a d10 under 5 and it is empty. For each number above five it is 20 percent full. So if you roll a 6 it is 20 percent full 7 is 40 percent so on and so forth.

So a 0 on the Athletics check means something good happens? Can it be that from the ground, he spots some sort of signage that indicates which track is Paris and which is the outskirts? (And, in the bargain, which track the soldiers are next to.)

What did I get for rolling the 0? I feel like Blaise is just as in the dark as he was before he jumped off the train. (In other words, is there some benefit he got that I'm not seeing?)

Ah great question. The details on the troop locations and activity were provided because of that. The athletics check just meant that you were able to jump off without hurting yourself. Also you were able to jump off the train without being seen. I was going to roll to see if you were spotted, but decided not to since you rolled so well and got a 0.
