OBLIGATION TABLE
Obligation Value Obligation Type Character
1–10 Personal and Public Betrayal (10): Zannel was not only the group's lead singer, but he was also Jessa's ambitious romantic interest. He was her ticket to a better life. She was left very embittered when he cut all ties with her and the group for a more lucrative path. Jessa
11–15 Addiction (5): Jessa had a long-standing, mild addiction to stimsticks to relieve her fatigue between or during long performances. (Removing one Setback die from vigilance, resilience, discipline, or perception checks.) Jessa
16–20 Debt (5): During her previous servitude, Jessa was accused of stealing a precious item from her master, Jadren Digga (which she did). She denies this, but actually pawned for credits that she used to obtain her freedom. He previous master was not convinced of her innocence and still holds this against her. He wants the item back. Jessa
21–27 Disgraced (7): Not many Chiss recover from a failure like the one that Gaise had, loosing all his men on what should have been a patrol mission. He claims that it came out of nowhere, a great beast that didn't show up on sensors and devoured his fleet, like some great whale story from the early years of Chiss literature, but everyone thought he was mad, or making things up to hide something more embarrassing, but few people believe it actually happened the way he said, and many people are angry about it. The final straw was when he left his post, a desk job assigned to him to allow him to at least finish out his career with some semblance of dignity. Now that he has abandoned his duty, and in many Chiss’ minds his dignity, he is a perpetual outcast, unwelcome in his own lands, and he’d be very fortunate if some of his people didn’t come looking for him. Gaise
28–34 Dutybound (7): Gaise is still, and will forever be, haunted by the events that took place the night he lost his fleet. The memory of it is horrifying but even more so is the knowledge that out of everyone in his fleet he is the one that survived instead of anyone else. He had no family, no attachments or dependents, only his crew that he loved like his own brothers and sister, or even children. They had people who wanted them to come home, they had futures, but the only future he was likely to have was the one that kept him in his place and out of embarrassing situations. This is what haunted him, the fact that they had made sure he would live only for his life to be meaningless. It kept him up at night, waking screaming into the dark, and plagued his waking hours with images that weren't there, until one day he decided he wouldn't live the meaningless life that the Ascendency had decided for him as punishment, that he would do something that mattered and that could justify the sacrifice that others had made. Since then he has lived with the belief that it is his duty to honor the dead by making his life worthwhile, by playing meaningful music, and since he has done so the episodes or hauntings, have become less pronounced. Gaise
35–40 Unfinished business (6): Gaise has a deep love for Zan, not only as a fellow musician who was on the hunt for what he felt is meaningful music, but also as the person who allowed him to finally pursue his dream and fulfill his duty to his fallen comrades by creating genuine art. It is a great regret for him that there came a time when his ideas of what was meaningful and Zan's diverged, causing them to have to part ways in order to Gaise to continue in what he views as him important work, but the event really is an effect of the different lives of the two. Gaise is a sad man with an unfortunate past trying to find himself in the music, and that sadness will always play a role in his music, seeping through like a chill through a cracked window. Zan was a young man with his future ahead of him, full of hope and pep, and that sadness didn't have as much of a place in his work. Despite this, Gaise very much wants to maintain his friendship with his former bandmate, but these pressing legal matters only make things more difficult. Gaise
41–47 Price of a Name (17): Zannel's wants to take everything the band has ever done. Meshel has vowed to show the galaxy Zannel Redbeam is not the sole master of this new music they have all been working on. Meshel
48–57 Debt (10): Targus owes Ruffus's debtors for taking on the old man's assets, including 2,500 credits/Instruments, a droid, and tools. Targus
58–62 Oath (5): Upon Ruffus's death, Targus vowed to take on the Jhonez surname and live up to it. Targus
63–67 Favor (5): What he feels he owes Zannel Redbeam for bringing him into the Band Targus
68–72 B(r)and Loyalty (5): His first gig as a promoter, Ryg’gos sees this as one of those things that you need to stick with through the good times AND the bad. Ryg'gos
73–77 Probation (5): After winding up in jail he has been added to the local ‘Watch List’ and is now on probation with mandatory check-ins after being released early for good behavior. Ryg'gos

I should expand on what Meshel’s means by adding “Meshel vowed he'd show the galaxy Zannel Redband was not the sole master of this new music they had all been working on.”
