Hi everyone
Hi everyone, my names boutros, or peter if you like, found this pbp board from a post on the ffg eote forums made by Shadowarrior
Been playing tabletop for a few years off and on, and recently started gming for my edge group, but schedules have made it difficult for us to get together for gaming, and i'm looking forward to being able to be a player again as well.
Although i've never done pbp that had actual mechanics and actual checks to it, I used to do a freeform play by post back in my teens and through my early 20's, so i know how this format can be enjoyable as well as convenient and am looking forward to meeting any playing star wars with everyone here.

Hey peter. You have come to the right place. There's an active games thread. Look there to find one with openings

Re: Hi everyone
Hey Matt, thanks for the welcome, and yes I’ve already been checking out the active games list and their forums,
I knew from the thread on the edge forums that there were three games that needed players and were in a position to easily integrate new people, and I think I’m heavily leaning towards the beyond the rim game, mostly because it being new there wouldn’t be anything I’d feel I’d need to catch up on with it.
Already got some idea of making an Arkanian Doctor who will eventually branch out into scholar and archeologist, but for now that page is saying that they need an int based medic which got the idea of an arkanian rolling for me.

Re: Hi everyone
Welcome to the board, Peter!
Uprising just began a few weeks ago and we haven't really done anything except had one combat encounter with a bunch of would-be bounty hunters that wanted to capture my Wookiee. Stupid lizards. It didn't go well for them. While I'm the GM for BtR, and certainly wouldn't mind having you in my game (you'd be the 6th and final player in that), DeepSpacer's Uprising and my Dirty Rotten Scoundrels have a greater need.

Re: Hi everyone
i'll give those two another once over, i know i liked the concepts behind uprising but was wary because i had never played using a duty system before and i couldn't find a section detailing what new players were needed that was as clear cut as the one on BtR, perhaps i might try my hand at both since i see a few people here have multiple characters that they play in different games.
Re: Hi everyone
Hi, Boutros! Yeah, if you're willing to post at least once a day in any game you join, no one will complain if you join more than one. If you are interested in Uprising, we recently lost our pilot, so that might be one area you could pitch in. And Dirty Rotten Scoundrels could use a replacement tech/medic, since ours disappeared and has been run as an NPC for the past few weeks.
Wherever you end up, welcome, and hope to see you around!

Re: Hi everyone
In Uprising, since we're no longer at Hoth, I'm pretty sure you'd be creating an Obligation-based character that joins us on the planet we're currently on. Of course I could be wrong, and DeepSpacer could have you create a Rebel that was already on this planet as a member of a local cell. You'd have to work that out with him. As for what the game needs, as a GM DeepSpacer doesn't care if 2 or more people play characters with the exact same career and specializations, nor does he care what your attributes are like. When I posted that we need a tech and a pilot, that's based on the fact that we lost the player of our pilot PC (and most groups benefit from having a specialist pilot), and we never had a tech (and Mechanics skill in FFG Star Wars is used a LOT).
In DRS we're (more or less) between "missions", so it doesn't matter all that much if you know what's gone on before or not. What matters most is getting to know your companions, and that's something you'd need to do in any game that has already gotten past the first few minutes IC.

Cool cool, I got ideas for the dirty rotten scoundrels game and the republic game already, I’m a little disappointed I won’t be able to put my medic concept into action on the beyond the rim one though, seems like there’s already two people vying for that spot.

Re: Hi everyone
I don't think that Doc'll mind not playing in BtR. There are two slots open in DRS and both you and Doc can take those.
