Yeah, I have been getting complaints about Gmail specifically. Though I just sent test emails to myself. I have just disabled the need for email activation and set it up for instant activation. Your friend should now be able to login. If not Give me their username and I will manually activate their account.

We've had email verification turned on for many weeks. I doubt the problem was on "our" end. Most likely it was trapped by Gmail and classed as SPAM. People need to check their spam folders if they don't get mail that they're expecting. Our switching to instant should not be how the "problem" is fixed. That should be a LAST resort, not the first thing tried. A proper thing to do is warn guest members that are registering that if they don't find the email to check their spam folder.

Agreed, it was not the first think I tried. I am also not getting the test emails I sent to myself at yahoo.com it is more than just one server. Also hostinger sent out an email saying they were working on updates. my guess is someone jumped the gun.

I suspect that you're right, as if this had been an ongoing problem since you went to paid hosting (which is when I turn email verification back on) we'd have heard about it long ago.

Oh, I understand the need to make things easy for our members. I'm fine with instant access ... until we get the issue resolved. We had to do things this way once before (when we hit the free cap) and now we're doing it again, but for a different cause. The only reason we even need email verification is to block Russian (and other) spammers who will otherwise flood the board with crap posts. I've seen it happen all too many times. The verification rarely stops them from getting registered, but their email addresses are always a dead giveaway that they're spammers. Multiple registrations from the same domain, or domains with close names, within a short period of time (a day or two, sometimes hours or even minutes apart).

Hey guys, I should mention - I have told sw that I'm no longer receiving email notifications to subscribed threads but I am on Hotmail not Gmail. This has only been the case the last few days. They were working fine before that.

I've started getting my test emails and emails from the few forums I set up to provide email alerts. Hopefully it is back online now.

Still in spam, but I'm getting them.
Give me about 5 minutes after a post, I'll probably edit it a bit before it is finalized.

Did you want them to go to spam? I could use another email account, but the simple truth is; that that one would soon be marked as spam also since it is a template email.

No, that's just where they've been going for a while. I'm at least getting emails, so that's good :P

You can probably white list the email address by simply clicking on one of the emails and moving it to your inbox. It should give you the option to declare it Not Spam.

It does, but they keep going back there. I've given up attempting to whitelist the email address.
