Tables

Post by SavageBob » Fri Apr 27, 2018 8:33 pm

@swrider, does the forum support tables? I'm thinking not, because I tried to create one here, and it just shows up as gobbledygook. Or am I doing something wrong?

Yes it does, you used the wrong BBcode. You use [ table][ row] [ cell] [ /cell][ /row][ /table]

That worked! Thanks! Is there a way to hard code the size of the cells? The d100 roll cell should be a big bigger so that the numbers don't get split.

I do not belive so. However we can add custom BBcodes to the forum so if you can make one or find one I can upload to phpBB3.2 I would be happy to do so. Shado has created many custom ones, but I have not bothered to learn how. He is quite bussy right now but may be able to do it.

I was able to add in a new BBcode It does not appear in the full editor so you will need to manually type it. [ WIDTH={Percentage number}]{TEXT} [ /WIDTH]

so [ WIDTH=50] 50% [/ WIDTH]

Hmm. It still seems to be breaking at the hyphen, so it may be a hyphen issue rather than a table-width issue. The table values in the left column are number ranges (e.g., 01–08), and the table keeps breaking at the dash. I think I need some sort of way to tell it not to break at the dash, but it's not super important.

looks fine to me. Are you looking at it in a small window or on a cell phone? the table may be resizing. On mys screen the percentile ranges are all on the same line.

Ah, that explains it. I can't get my browser window big enough to let the numbers not break at the dash, but it's not a big deal. I'm glad they're showing up properly on other machines.

FYI, your new bbcode in posts #5 and #6 does not display properly for me, both in Firefox of in IE. I'm getting the BOTTOM half of the contents. You need to make sure that whatever HTML is being used behind the bbcode has not been deprecated. I haven't looked at your actual code myself, yet, but I suspect that the HTML you're using is something now-obsolete.

number 5 is not working at all because I did it before correcting the code for #6. I used the TD width feature.... it should still be good. I doubt that was depreciated.

For me, #6 is worse than #5. The content in #6 looks jumbled or smashed together into illegibility, as well as cut off vertically. At least I can read #5, even though the top half is missing.
