OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Chibiithii didn't have a uniform so Whoever talk will need to be ready for that.
Sanguine angle you had chibiithii roll in the other thread were the results from that incised in the descriptions above.

Just so I'm clear, our goal is to find the power source in the belt, without affecting the negotiations. We aren't here to make sure the negotiations are completed to the Empire's satisfaction
Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
That is what I got from the briefing.
Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Pretty much. Since the Silver belt is a protected area we cannot just go in as we please and “aggressive negotiating” with the tribe that knows where the power source might be is not an option.crazybirdman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 17, 2019 4:31 pmJust so I'm clear, our goal is to find the power source in the belt, without affecting the negotiations. Aggressive negotiations are ALWAYS an option when a Wookiee is around!

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Hey guys!
Going to address a couple of queries:
@swrider to maintain parity with the rest of the group - yes I will rule that in learning from the others, you may benefit from the mentor bonus. This allows you to reduce the cost of a new basic force power by 5xp. Please note that this only applies to the basic power and not to subsequent upgrades. This also does not apply to Talents.
Re: disguising your weapon. It is possible to disguise your hilt - I would suggest that disgusing it as another weapon may draw more attention rather than less but that is your call. Most people are unlikely to recognise a lightsaber hilt on sight but an obvious weapon will draw all sorts of attention in many situations. Anyway, this would count as a Hilt Masking kit attachment. Whatever you choose to disguise it as - the cost will be equivilant to that item and it will occupy 1 hard point.
@crazybirdman You assessment of the misssion is correct - find a way into the Silver Belt without causing a diplomatic incedent. That could be through negotiating access or finding a way in without anyone knowing. Or some angle I have not yet considered!

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
I suppose we should come up with a 'plan A' first? Maybe split the party? one group sneak into the belt and get the power source, another group negotiates access into the Silver belt and generally causes a distraction/keeps the locals busy?

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
There is enough of us to split but might be worth sticking together first to see how negotiations go. If they are not as successful as we like then the distraction/sneak plan would be a good plan B.
I’m just thinking the “sneak team” could be a wasted effort if negotiations go well.

Maybe we should stroke this guys ego? (He's wearing a cape, I'm assuming that's a safe bet ) tell him something along the lines of he's doing a great job and we are just here to inspect the assets the Empire is about to acquire?
Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
That could be a tactic. Another option is to maintain secrecy. Ask to speak in private and then inquire as to his knowledge of our visit. He may provide us with an opening we can exploit.

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Ohh, I like that idea, let's make it the new Plan A.
Perhaps I'll move forward with that idea if there are no objections or better ideas soon?

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
I’d suggest being honest, to a point.
We’re here on behalf of the Emperor. We want to see his efforts succeed. We need to be able to enter the silver belt. Anything else is on a need to know basis and he doesn’t need to know much more than that.

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Who has decent Presence?
I'm happy with however the group want to approach this.
Just throwing another Plan B into the ring, if we can find out what grants us access (papers, an escort, etc.), I can (if the dice allow me) change appearance and could try to immitate the relevant official. We could then attempt to sort out the access ourselves?
Again, due to the high risk involved that would be a back-up plan.

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
i have high presence and Sense. We could ask why he thinks we are here and I can try and sense his emotions?
Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Tai is definitely not your presence person. She might be helpful if we need to mask intentions though. Kaminoans are hard to read.
Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Chibiithii is an int and brawn kinda guy. Since we have a doctor and anther with high int we could claim we are on an anthropological expedition. We are looking for native medicines etc... Perhaps we could ask to view historical archives to get an idea of what we are looking for.
Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
That was one idea I was considering actually. Get terms to do anthropology in the silver belt.

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Okay everyone, sounds like some nice active discussion. I'm going to push you for a response though.
If you do wish to try hide your agenda from Val Dene, then this will require an Opposed () Deception Check.
For a bit of GM perspective - you don't necessarily have to do anything requiring a skill check here. If you just straight talk without an agenda, then that is a perfectly valid approach.
Generally speaking, Raven is actually your most personable party member by quite a margin, with a presence of 4 and charm (1), he ought to be very capable in social situations.
However, I don't think you're at a point in this exchange yet where you're angling for anything in particular so unless you tell me otherwise, no charm, negotiation, or Coercion check is currently called for.

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Okay I just say we tell him he's doing a really good job a bit and then go with the with the 'scientist that want to explore the silver belt' idea and see what happens
Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Rashk will just go with whatever has been decided. He won’t be speaking to anyone outside our group unless it’s necessary. Going with the muscle brute approach just Incase he needs to turn the screws on anyone who isn’t willing to cooperate haha.

Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
Cool. Just to reconfirm, if you are lying, you're rolling that check.
Re: OOC Session 04: A diplomatic solution
With the Anthropology thing, I don’t think we have to deceive the Ambassador here. The ones we need to deceive are the inhabitants of the planet. We can be more open with the Ambassador about what we are up to baring anything related to the force.
