Character Prologue: Galvin Steiner

Several years ago, as a part of your training in the Academy, you were placed on secondment with a specialist unit within the Imperial Security Bureau for a few months to gain experience in the field. For months, you worked within that team investigating a case of some consternation for the Empire:
  1. To locate a scholar of some standing within Imperial academic circles, who had gone missing whilst pursuing some personal research.
  2. To identify and secure a rogue Force user in the Imperial capital.

{@spiritbw hopefully this sounds good to you. Unfortunately it's been a hectic couple of weeks - so I'm onyl getting this up now. Needed to prep a little bit. However, we can run this on the back burner while we play out the next session.

Let me know how you're finidng it, if you want anything in particular to come of it and be as verbose (or not) as you like. I'm kinda leaving things vague on purpose so you can fill in the blanks as you like}

It was understandable that the ISB handed Gavin the case regarding the reports of a rogue force user. Given his unique skill set it probably made sense. He reviewed what reports they had before gathering some necessary supplies and heading to the capital.

(Not a problem @SanguineAngel. It was the holidays so I figured it’d be quiet. I’m curious to see where this goes.)

The Galactic City, capital of the Empire, was a teeming metropolis that covered the surface of Coruscant entirely. Though the seat of the Empire's power, the city was a cultural melting pot - a trillion citizens living in each other's laps. The majority of residents live in the lower levels and probably never see open sky in their lives.

The ISB team was already well entrenched in the city when you arrived, their investigation having been under way for weeks. The team had worked together for years and were composed of both human and alien agents.
  1. With your military training, you were able fit into the team seemlessly.
  2. Your inexperience in the field meant you picked up the worst jobs - boring research and tedious surveillance on low priority targets.
  3. You found yourself immediately at odds with the lead agent. Despite your junior position, you weren't afraid to weigh in with your professional opinion.

While still new to a long established team Gavin’s military training ment he knew the basics of their procedures. It did not take him long to adapt to the teams methods and fit in with the existing members.

The team were dispatched on the strength of criminal reports regarding the theft of a valuable artifact from a governor's palace in this government sector of the city. Eye witness statements within the report record a number of irregularities consistent with the use of the Force. Most notably, guards reported being compelled to accede to the thief's requests for entry to the estate, or having no memory of the incident at all. The suspect had managed to keep their identity an unknown by manipulating the guards and staff whilst expertly avoiding any visual surveilance equipment.

As the team leader briefed you on the case so far, you learned that they had narrowed down the likely location of the suspect to somewhere in:
  1. The sprawling Jrade Imperial University campus - practically a miniature city in itself.
  2. The Imperial governor's own administrational offices. This was an inside job.
  3. An insurgent cell operating within the local Jrade district. If they're harbouring a Force user then the danger is paramount.

The Imperial University only made sense. Whole else would have the knowledge to know about the artifact, but not have direct access to it?
