Raven, temporary influenced by the dark side says, "No I would not 'fancy some spelunking' but I would like to get some rest and complete our mission. Let us see what this creature wants us to find in there."

Hearing this, Bardax stops in his tracks and turns to Raven.

"Better watch that attitude Raven.." he says coldly. His usual cocky smirk now faded from his face.

"OK then. Lead the way." Bardax says in a dry, sarcastic tone and gestures with his unarmed hand towards the mansion. It was clear now the rest was well needed as the tiredness was taking it's toll on him. Ironically he had now developed a snappy attitude of his own.

Bardax looks down at the creature next to him who was watching intently, although likely had no idea what had just been said.

Still in a state of aggravation, Bardax then barks at the creature.

"And what are you looking at?!!" and he swipes his saber down in the creature's direction cutting the air inches in front of it's face.

Screenwipe!

Inside the mansion, you are first led through an impressive circular entrance hall with a ceiling height of around two storeys and a delapidated grand staircase sweeping around the inside wall. Unfortunately the stairs are completely collapsed. Any original decoration has long since been rubbed away or been overwritten with primitive scrawling by the current inhabitants.

The Chieftain leads the troupe through the building, while you are herderd, poked and prodded with curiosity. You quickly lose sight of your original host - the one with one foot. He seemed subdued on the return.

Once through the entry hall, and into narrower corridors of the interior, dim light is supplied by exposed flames - a tar-like substance placed into makeshift sconces and set alight. Consequently, the house is filled with a smoke.

As you are taken through the house, you spot numerous rooms and staircases overflowing with more of the rodent creatures, vying for a look at the newcomers. Rooms appear sparsely furnished but everywhere you look you see the evidence of this primitive society, completely at odds with the surrounds. Vine-made netting strung from the ceiling acts as storage. In one series of rooms, you spy several surprisingly large animal carcasses in various states of butchery and curing. A kitchen, of sorts, has been setup on a particularly large room hosting a flurry of activity inside stirring up pungeant aromas that make your mouths water.

Some of your hosts carry tools made of metal scraps, or flint. Others wear jewely of stone or bone. Children run and play through your legs, infants cling to parents. The interior of the mansion seems to serve a near complete, though claustraphobic, settlement.

Eventually, you are led to a wide set of stairs that leads down to a basement level. The Cheiftain pauses and here, the rest of the creatures hang back. The Chieftain beckons you down the stairs, chirruping in a gentle, encouraging manner. A soft glow emenates from below.

Raven takes one of the makeshift torches nearby in hand and laments, "Why does nothing here seem to well lit?"

Bardax watches Raven take the torch as he leads the way behind the Chieftain.

He follows behind but does not take a torch.

Bardax notices that the creature he had struck at earlier was cautiously following at a safer distance but still tailing in the shadows. Quiet chirps could be heard every now and again as if feeling sorry for itself.

Tsk! Bardax tuts to himself, still showing his foul mood.

The glow now becoming more prominent, they approach the bottom of the stairs.

No one follows you down the stairs. The basement level is surprisingly lavish - with high ceilings and plenty of space.

Trophies adorn the walls: large skulls with viscious looking horns. There are dozens all around the room.

The walls down here are in much better shape than those in the rest of the house. In many places you can clearly seem the remnants of elaborate murals. Ancient in style and positively baroque, they depict a number of scenes. There are battles, filled with humanoids clad in outlandish, old fashioned clothes and wielding swords of fire. [Raven, you are struck by the resembelance between these images and the image you saw of yourself in One-Foot's mind.] There are scenes of shining cityscapes on presumably disntant planets. There are scenes of devastation; those cities in ruins, battles lost.

Mounted on the walls and at odds with the elegant artwork are dozens of trophies: huge animal skulls sporting large horns and tusks. The skulls range in size from perhaps 3 to 5 feet across. The animals must have been massive. Some skulls are adorned in flowering wreathes.

In the centre of the floor are two makeshift beds of hay, woven mats and animal furs.

At the far end of the chamber is a second room. Through the open doorway is an alter of sorts, decked with more wreathes, bone charms and all manner of offerings. To you, it might seem faintly ridiculous - as you can clearly see that this is nothing more than a substantial but workmanlike desk. The room, at some point, obviously an office. On the nearside, left corner of the desk is the apparent target of all this worship - a very old computer terminal.

Bardax's mood is forgotten as he starts to look around in awe.

He wonders around glancing up and down at the strange decor and items around them. As Bardax passes the the doorway, he spots the old computer terminal and stops.

Finding it hard to focus he rubs his eyes and tries to stifle a yawn.

"Interesting place. he says to Raven.

"That old terminal looks like it has some ancient secrets to unfold." he smirks reverting back to his playful manner.

Seeing the made up beds behind him, Bardax heads over and gets comfy.

"However, I think that can wait until morning. Doesn't look like it's going anywhere and I need my beauty sleep."

Bardax settles down but keeps a firm hold on his saber under his cloak. He will rest for now but it will be with one eye open...

Raven looks around, shrugs, and sits on the other bed. He intends to keep watch, but after a while of no activity, he lays down and gets some rest himself.

The air in the basement warms slowly, and the smell of damp wafts from you both. Sleep comes easily, for you are both exhausted. At some point in the night, you half-wake to the sound of scuffing and clinking, though there is no sense of threat - in the morning, you will find your dishes have been cleared, whilst what clothes you did not sleep in are dry and folded by your heads.

End of Session 1
