Background
Background:
State Background Type
Chibiithii was born to a small clan dedicated to the protection of the sacred location. The antiquated mansion and long abandoned Kaibab crystal mines were little more than dilapidated buildings. His ancestors has been the caretakers and guardians of these buildings for centuries and when they were abandoned that charge continued. Chibiithii was selected at birth with his twin brother to be a clan leader. He was taught in the ancient language and raised to revere the giants of the fire swords. For many years he pursued this path, learning the lore, history and religion of his people. During his early pre-pubescent years, a feeling started to awaken in Chibiithii which seemed to call him deeper into the sacred caves. Entrance beyond the most superficial depths was strictly forbidden but this only severed to fuel chibiithii's curiosity and he drung his brother along on many adventures within the forbidden depths. together they encountered many residents of the mine. Creatures like those who's skulls were found in the sacred halls of worship. They learned to avoid them and eventually to battle and win against them; well, the smaller ones anyways. Exploring the cave brought chibitthii and his brother great strength and fortitude (as far as their people go). The closeness and the sensations of the cave seemed to enhance Chibiithii's ability to feel the suffering and pain of his people and know how to treat their injuries. He developed some healing abilities and became known as a sort of healer amongst his people.

Shortly before reaching the age of ascension when he would be begin duties as a tribal leader and healer, Chibiithii and his brother found a strange artifact within the deep caves. A handle in appearance similar to that of a spear, which looked reminiscent to those in the great images. He played with the artifact accidentally igniting a flame sword. The surprise caused him to drop the artifact which sliced through his brother's foot cauterizing the wound in an instant. In shame Chibiithii helped his brother limp back to their home. The chieftain seeing the injury inquired what had happened. Together the brothers confessed to their transgressions. Chibiithii’s years of service to the clan, went ignored as the chieftain passed the ultimate penalty upon him, that of being outcast. His brother was spared this punishment, the loss of his foot factoring in to the chiefs decision to spare him a life of wandering in the wilderness. Chibiithii's brother was stripped of his title and position and shunned by most of his fellows. Being allowed within the clan, but with no real place or acceptance was in effect being outcast. His brother took to exploring around the camp escaping to spend time with his brother. Together they went hunting and fishing and exploring.

Guards had been placed on the cave preventing them from gaining further access. Though Chibiithii quickly learned ways around the guards. His brother swore off the caves vowing never again to enter, and accepted his punishment. Chibiithii was not so accepting. He felt a growing resentment from being banned from the caves, not that this stopped him from entering them. His resentment was only hightend by the treatment of his brother, the only individual who had not forsaken him. Chibiithii recently moved within the caves, deciding not to leave until he fully understood their secrets. He left a note hidden in the meeting place set up with his brother, but went some time without hearing from him. As he searched the caves he found the remains of several of the Giants, strange metallic disks filled what remaind of their pockets and various broken weapons. On one body Chibiithii found a spear like weapon which ignited like a fire sword. Its beam was much less potent, but more so than the ancient spear he carried. He adopted the weapon as his own keeping its light off as often as possible but striking fear with it when necessary. After several months Chibiithii could hear the cries of his brother from within the cave. He encounter him engaged in battle with one of the creatures and together they defeated the beast. His brother was badly wounded and Chibiithii moved him to the safety of a metal alcove treating his wound as best he could without medicine or bandages. His brother told him of the giants of the flame swords who were seeking to enter the cave and with his dying breath swore his brother to prevent them form suffering as he had done when they came. With what Chibiithii thought was the corpse of his brother lying still, he moved away from the shadows waiting for the giants to come. He didn't have to wait long as the buffoon's made loud noises and battled their way through the cave. He observed from a distance, startled when they revived his brother. Determined to learn their secrets he kept following the giants until the encountered the great beast and power of the cave.

Chibiithii saught the power of the cave, to learn of it, to harness it, to never be dependent on this clan again. He further saught to free his brother from his accepted ignorance and together learn the secrets of the giants of the fire swords.

This is still a work in progress, but I have updated a few things so you can provide feedback and suggestions.

@SavageBob since One foot was off the table I thought a brother may be a better option. This character things his brother was dead not realizing he was just unconcious. He would belive that the giants healed him and then that his bother died (assuming he does) to full fill the oath of protecting the giants within the cave. He would not look down on the group because of the brothers death. It would be honorable, his brothers wishes, and freeing his brother from the ignorance of the clan.

He’s gonna hate the group..... better not sleep with him around after you tied his brother to the beast!

LOL I address that in my second post to Savagebob. He dosesn't understand his brothers loyalty but he does respect it. Besides this is his opportunity to learn the secrets of the giants of the flame sword! :)

Though he was only sworn to protect you from the cave....

@SanguineAngel I used the stats for the training lightsaber but changed it to a force pike. I figured this would be more in fitting with his racial weapons and something he would be more likely to want to use. If this, or anything else for that matter, is not acceptable let me know.
I also added text in his background to explain how he got the force pike and the few credits he has. He doesn't actually know what the credits are, just that they were carried by the giants.

@SanguineAngel I left the morality, duty and obligation blank. How are you handling these in your game? Morality seem applicable does it start at 50? what about bonus xp from spending morality?

Depends on when he is approved. I am hoping that he can jump into the current battle as he is supposed to protect the group. Perhaps he is climbing on the roof or some other secluded area and jumps in with his force pike to "save" his brother!

I think the character is ready for final review now. Your template showed 4 career skills which I believe is normal. Oggdude's only allowed three when I used it for reference so I spent XP on the 4th please let me know if this is wrong.

The other option is that he stows away on your ship or ride home. Not as thematic as joining the battle but that will felons on approvals from the GM

Lovely stuff.

You're correct that the carreer skills are usually 4/8 but in F&D careers you only get 3/6 presumbaly for both balance and to reflect that you focus is split between general skill growth and force powers/talents. Anway, you're right to spend the 5XP on Vigilance.

I had a quick run through your XP spend and I think you've only spent 165. Just totting up here for confirmation so let me know if I've gone wrong or missed ought.

Char Gen
Bawn 2 (20)
Brawn 3 (30)
Agility 2 (20)

Toughened Rank 1 (5)
Force Protection Rank 1 (10)
Center of Being Rank 1 (15)
(100)

Starting bonus
Vigilance 1 (5)

Heightened Awareness (15)
Grit Rank 1 (20)
Dedication: Brawn (25)
(65)

Total spend: 165

Regarding the introduction, I think having him swoop in from nowhere to try and save his brother has a good feel - though as a non-cadet, it may be that he still then follows discretely and stows away anyway, to be discovered in transit on the next mission?

Nope I spent 175. You missed a second rank in both the Grit and Toughened Talents. I thought it was 10 xp for morality so I over spent by Five. I will drop the second rank in toughened for now

I like that introduction. This lets a brief intro in this scenario to have one of the members make sense to the group, but also does not force his introduction until next session. It sounds perfect.

aha! Sorry, yeah I missed em both!

However your initial read was correct, you gain one of the following morality benefits: 10xp or 2500 credits or 5xp & 1000 credits or adjust morality score by 21 up or down.

So, at present I think you have spent 450 credits. Unless you're wanting the extra credits worth of gear, it would be 10xp so you would be able to have 175 starting xp.

And I'm happy that this character is ready to move into dramatis personae - and see if we can get him swooping in to save the day!

Yeah Ill have to take the 1000 credits as he needs to have a weapon of some type and armor. I'll make a few gear adjustments to spend the money and them move him over.

Ok I upgraded the armor to padded, added a back pack and 10 rations That should bring my total spent to 1000 and all seems justifiable as something he could have obtained. It doesnt make sense for him to have a lot of credits on him.

Can I jump in or do you want to handle his introduction in a narrative sense. Also, If i jump in should I roll initiative? Would I go on a PC slot or a seperate slot since I am not technically part of the group yet?
