I'll edit my IC posts to from saying the eagles were killed by hunters to saying they were badly injured by hunters and are being tended to at the monastery. That leave the characters open to bring up the possibility of retrieving the eagles from the monastery.

this post has been edited to mention the monastery and say the eagles had been taken there to mend. Players can bring up the option of retrieving them from the monastery. This is likely to be the easiest option, but will also be time consuming as you will need to climb the mountain and then come back. Taking this route will essentially prevent you from taking more than one long rest and being able to get back tot he city before the festival.

we could split the party, Thew'ruk has pretty good survival and animal handling so he would be good for either tracking down the queen or retrieving the birds. I was actually going to suggest that he use his animal handling to try and capture the birds but the story has changed.

personally, I don't think we should leave something up to the ent by themselves, they are sick and not in any condition to carry out a task alone.

I am fine with that. Typically, I do not advise splitting a party but in this case the upcoming encounters are not pivotal to the story and can be easily adapted for smaller group sizes. The pivotal part is that you get the tree Ent to give you the artifact.

Thew'ruk could STILL suggest retrieving the birds down the Mtn if he feels confident about it. We'd be more reliant on his skills on that trip. Queen bug is an option, too. I (the player) would prefer a fight to a rescue. Thew'ruk could persuade the others, perhaps, by laying out his plan. "Time" is very important, so his option may work. As a player, I didn't know that we had any skills to tame wild birds or communicate with them.

I can go with the party spit suggested by @Boutrose Saba-Norr. While his Perception skill is not great due to his crappy Wisdom, Oomaq is still pretty good with his bow and could probably be of help tracking the queen.

I’ll make a post. I didn’t want to hog all the action so I was letting others take the lead. I’ll post in a little while.

I honestly just forgot to reply because I wasn't seeing notifications for the thread, I've made one now to help build on kanila's post.

So the questions stands as to the party split? Also the Inspiration being granted to Oomaq (yes he'll eat the queen) is it a one-time roll or multiple? If one-time, my suggestion would be to give Advantage to a companion mainly due to his -1 Survival will probably suck in most rolls, although with his Mastermind Archetype he can give the Help Action at up to 30' during combat.
Agreements/Disagreements?

one time and it goes away at the next long rest if not used. Also, I believe it can be used after a roll, but must be used before I declare the results of a roll. I.e. you can roll see how you do and then use it to get advantage and try again.

Meddaar will go after the Queen and Rurik will go after the eagles.

Meddaar has a +2 survival and Rurik has a +1.

I’ll roll and post for Rurik while we decide who gets the advantage for the Queen hunt.

Great perception, horrible survival haha.

Alright since it hasn't been posted yet. Let's give Gage the Advantage on that last Survival roll since that what is needed for the queen and that 8 sucked.

Well, with the bug, I'll prep some stuff unless it notices us first. Wolf/Eagle? The time is now.

@Deepspacer how do you want to tackle the bugs? Oomaq is +5 to climb so going up the tree might be a good start. He also has 50' of hemp rope for helping others get up the tree if needed. Plus like Gage he's got ranged ability.

I was having the thought of having thew'ruk's ancestral spirit protect the eagle but I can't do that until level 6, so I'll have to think of something else.

I want to try and use an animal handling check to try and calm them both.
