so, thew'ruk's ability to drop to 1 hp instead of nothing only works if it is not enough to damage to outright kill him.
Luckily his max hp is 23, which means the monster would have had to do enough damage to reduce his 11 current hp to zero and then again another 23, and he only did 31, which mean I avoided death by a margin of 3 hp.
even at half damage Thew'ruk would still be unconscious so I won't bother with the roll and just have him reduced to 1 using his orc racial ability.
but we can not take another hit like that, we need to retreat and regroup.

I'm thinking of grappeling the snake and allowing the other conscious members to try and grab the unconscious ones, but I don't know how big it is and I think the grapple rules state that you auto loose checks to people a size larger than you.
Kanila if I can't grapple then I'll grab your guy and run. we need to be better prepared for this fight than we are lol.

You'd be better off grabbing one of the healers. LOL, first off you can not grapple the creature it is too large.
Second @ThreeBFour has an action from the first round where i skipped him.... Sorry about that again. And one in this round.
A quick visual check of the creature shows that it is badly injured.
Pulling the other players out of the room is an option. You can drag one at a time. Since they are unconcious they would still be making death saves, you can also do medicine checks to stabilize them. After an 8 hour rest they will gain 1 hp and no Hit Dice. After that they can heal normally. Also, they gain no other effects of that long rest. I.e. no recovered spells, abilities etc....
Running is always an option, I just wanted to point out that you are not as bad off as you may think you are.

Also, this enemy is just going to sit there and let us drag people up the stairs? It's not going to track us down just because we move a few feet away? I'm afraid not. We are all in on this one.

Yes because there was an ally within 5 feet. But you did enough to kill it.

Well once the zombie is killed and the artifact is taken care of, I only need two good saving throws to be stabilized! Then of course an 8 hr rest.

Oomaq starts out as a negative in Medicine checks, but he'll help if anyone wants.....lol.

A failure on a medicine check does not count as a death fail. In other words even if you fail you don't hurt the character.
