Episode I: Racing Debut

Tarko’talik heads out with the group to track down one the officials. Since they still seem to have the hangar reserved he figures there must be one close by.

[kanila]

Tatti just shrugs and follows the group. Once outside the ship they can easily spot a few that could answer their questions. The protocol droid and head mechanic are both in the hangar.

Buimo approaches the droid. "Excuse me, honorable droid. We have a question about the illegalities of the racing circuit."

[kanila]

”Sir I can guarantee that the Galactic Racing Circuit is 100% legal and authorized by the Imperial government. All proper forms have been filed as per regulations.”

[Boutrose Saba-Norr]

Vo moves forward, “What my friend means is that we are trying to see about the legality of installing a prototype ship modification. We want to make sure we are up to code”

[kanila]

”Oh! Many apologies! If the part complies with Imperial law and is not on the restricted list the attachment is authorized. The matter of it being a prototype is of no concern.”

[Spiritbw]

”It’s a type of new type of maneuvering thruster for larger ships that Mr. Nakno here developed. If there is any need for clarification on the modification he is the being to ask for details.”

[kanila]

”As far as records of past restricted modifications are concerned, the Empire has never denied a ship modification that deals with ship controls.”

[Boutrose Saba-Norr]

“Well alright then,” Vo said turning to the Chandra-fan, “let’s start installing it as soon as possible, and Buimo and I can start tearing it out.”

[SavageBob]

"Sounds like fun!"

[Spiritbw]

”You guys do that. I’m going to go see about finding us a cargo. I’ll check with Aziz first. He’ll probably want to come help if he can anyhow.”

[kanila]

The modification to the ship goes off without a hitch. Though the part had to be modified further to fit the ship.

Elsewhere on the station another conversation was happening with Aziz. ”Actually I have a few astromech droids going to Eriadu. Are you guys heading that way?”

[Spiritbw]

”As a matter of fact we were Aziz. Word travel fast around this station? There’s another race there and we’re wanting to see what the Exile can do with the new upgrades. How many droids you looking to send?”

[kanila]

”Well some racers were requesting them, so I kinda figured you would be heading the same way. And it’s only 4 droids.”

[Spiritbw]

”We should be able to manage those. Now, let’s talk pricing.....”

[kanila]

”Yes, yes! I can pay 4,000 credits for the transport and delivery. Sound good?”

[Spiritbw]

"Tell you what, throw in a bit more and I'll deliver them right to your clients domicile."

”Hmmm best I can do is 4,400 credits, upfront. I have to make a profit.”

[Spiritbw]

"Sounds good to me. Let's get these droids to the Exile and we'll be off as soon as the others complete final checks."

While the others were outfitting the redemption with the new prototype modification, Vo excused himself under the premise of wanting to check something out, which wasn't entirely a lie, as he was checking out some prospects on potentially finding a smuggling job along their route. The team needed money but Vo understood that they were a bit uncomfortable with the idea of actual smuggling, so he thought it would be best to just keep it a secret from them.

While Vo was unable to locate a ‘cargo’ of his own he did hear an interesting piece of information. There has been a rather aggressive ISB patrol in the area around the station, hampering the underground trade market.

After narrowly escaping a few potential brush ins with the law, Vo got the hint and headed back to the redemption. there would be no score here today.

On the way back to the ship, Tarko makes a brief side trip to see about finding an old junker of a droid for Runt. He think's Runt is smart enough to keep his hands off the cargo, but why take chances?

[kanila]

Wandering around the market district, it was only a matter of finding the right droid. Was Tarko looking for a cheaper fixer upper? Or possibly finding the parts to build one from scratch? Both could be suitable for distracting Runt.

[Spiritbw]

A cheaper fixer upper is what Tarko decides would be his first go to as Runt probably doesn’t have as much programming experience. If they get a serviceable droid out of this it’s a bonus. Preferably something in the cleaning line as they discussed but he’d take pot luck.

As such if nothing looks good in the used droid department then it’s onto the other option. He’ll get a selection of parts and see about giving Runt the project of designing a droid.
