How had it come to this?

It was not the first time Tarko had wondered that in his recent life. He had big dreams once. The idea of getting out into the galaxy, making his own way and coming back to Ryloth with fame and riches. Now he was sitting here waiting for the race to start on Issagra Station. Where had it gone wrong? Probably with being to naive of the real way of the galaxy at first. He should have asked where their funding was coming from, where the goods were being made. When his would be partner ran off with their credits and he found he had a empty warehouse, and unfilled orders....

Tarko had been bankrupt and desperate. He wound up in the clutches of a loan shark for part of the sums that were owed. Loan sharks were in a way businessmen. They wanted to make money on their "investments". They just tend to be much more demanding about the payment schedule and much more vicious about the penalties for late payment. So long as they got their money they left him more or less alone. He'd managed to squeak by here and there keeping up on the interest, but so far he still owed the loan shark more than he could easily buy his way out from under.

He had done some cons in his time and had at first thought this must be what these races would be. Why would a legit racing circuit work out of somewhere like Issagra station? However after looking into the race materials it seemed to him it at least was superficially clean. Near as he could tell the race was wide open with everything form snub fighters to freighters being allowed to race.

Normally it would be odds on for the snub fighters to have the advantage, but anyone who had business on Issagra station knew what well tuned medium freighter could do. So it was no surprise when the Exiles' Redemption took the early lead. What was really shocking though is how one sided the race quickly became. Tarko found himself on the front edge of his seat watching the race play out.

"Those beings could go places..." He murmured to himself as he watched the ship come in on the final stretch. He thought back over the information about the race he had read and specially about the idea of sponsors being talked about by the racing staff. He stood up and brushed off his clothes, making sure everything was seated just so and with a last glance at the holo-display made his way towards the hangars with a spring in his step. Maybe it's time for a new business opportunity.

If Tarko'talik has one goal it would be to set up a successful business. Well he'd like ro not be owing a loanshark first off but still in the end he wants to head his own company.
