It is in range you can attack now.
As for intiative. I will update above. I keep forgetting. I am just goign to give the npc the frist slot (already gone) and the PCs all the follwoing slots.

Yes it is fine. What ever the standard is for that roll. But I don't recall the ship having taken any strain.

Not sure what I can do. Angle the shields again? If I run the scanners could it give a boost to the next shooter?

This is a full on space battle there are numerous event groups within range.

Nope. But it is close enought. You only get the second upgrade from the weapon system if you aim. It gives an upgrade and a boost. You also don't get an upgrade fro evasive maneuvers, in fact I think that makes attacks more difficult. The enemy fighters are being recklace and usign stay on target and that gives you an upgrade. For a total of two without aiming. So after some thought I am going to modify turns for this up coming encounter.
Each pc will have 5 actions and 5 maneuvers free on their slot. You may take up to 5 maneuvers for two strain ea. Grenades have extended range because you are firing from an elevated position +1 range band. Also you all get two boost dice automatically 1 for elevation and one for firing from a prone or kneeling position. Enemy take two corresponding setbacks on their attacks.
There will only be one or two rounds like this before heading to the next part of the story.

Targets will be continually dropping in. It is up to you when you reveal your location . So max long min close. We are taking multiple transports full of droids so 50 to 100 aqua droids. There are also squid like assault droids that penetrate the buildings armor and unload droids inside. These dogs can also attack and have planetary scale weaponry. Their primary objective is dropping off attacking droids though.

Aldi because of the extreme number of droids I am taking a page from capital ship combat. Two threats on any player roll generates a hit from a Droid blaster at base damage.
Because of this I will only roll attacks on the npc turn for two minion groups instead of 10 to 30 groups.

I think for the start off this with Wook in a standing position, maybe shielded in a doorway? But because of his Strong Arm Talent he'll start by tossing grenades (up to long range), and Ice will probably hand off his own grenades to him.

BigTen has two ranks of Quick Strike and a rifle with a scope (reduce Long Range to ), so he'd attack quickly. He intends to do so. Should we just begin rolling? Roll one attack?
Prone adds +1 SB to their attacks. +1 SB due to our cover, too?
There is no Boost from firing from prone, btw.

Yeah basically take five rounds in one go. Quick strike can apply to all five. I am pretty sure they're is a boost in raw for shooting from prone. I'm out of town though and can't look it up right now.
